People trying to race?

Just curious if this happens to anyone else? I've had my car for 5 months and I've had several Mustangs try to race me haha

I think its hilarious because I just don't do races like that. There's a guy at my school who has a 2010 stang and we were at a red light. He was revving up and as soon as the light went green he went zoom! And there I was going a normal speed and I just that it was funny. I was like, who are you racing? because it sure wasn't me!

And then another guy went out of his way to get from the local lanes on the parkway to get to the express just to try to race me, and then when he saw I wasn't going to race him he had to go back to the local lanes to actually go where he was supposed to be lol. I mean I'm not one to disappoint but I'm flattered that people want to race.

Weird thing is its only been newer '10 and up, never anything before that. Anyone else have similar stories? just curious

Anyone who thinks street racing is cool, take a look at this. In the UK, two BMW's racing and collide at 140 mph...not pretty.

Wow those images are just devastating...for something that could've been avoided so easily its a tragedy to lose a life over something like that. Safety first

Yeah I'm friends with a lot of tuner guys. They know I'm getting a 5.0 soon and are already talking about running. I tell them that I'm not a racer, I just like fast cars. I like having the power. These guys don't understand that. They ask, "what's the point of a fast car if you're not trying to race?"

That is one devastating wreck! I'm glad you shared this link because it's always good to get a reminder of how quickly life can be lost due to poor decisions.

OP - This is one aspect that seems to come with owning a Mustang. Mine is on it's way from the Factory so i'm hoping I won't have to deal with too many racing requests. But I guess as long as the person isn't a D bag, it could come off as flattering. Enjoy your ride, be safe and thanks for sharing!

Boy that ended badly, I wonder if all parties involved (passengers and drivers) were in colusion?

^^ why I don't street race - it's stupid and unacceptable. I accelerate quickly - but never excessively speed (we all speed a little). Thanks for posting this, hope more people look and understand. it's not worth it. (I have had a few friends in accidents over the years, either they died or they are nothing like they used to be... not worth the thrill).

Show them this thread - if they don't get it then it's on them... racing is for the track.

Our family lost a 22 year old niece to street racing. She was walking accross campus to her next class, and got killed by one car that lost control racing another down the street. She was a law student, on the deans list (holding a 3.9 GPA). Both the drivers are out of jail now. The one that killed her pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, served 8 months of a two year sentence, and is now driving again.

Street racing type posts should not be allowed to be here. Promotes fools to post and brag about their stupidity.

That is precisely why street racing IS NOT promoted on TMS. I'm sorry for your loss.

Just another reason this forum is awesome

That was a dumb response to Bucko's heartfelt post. Get a clue.

Agreed. It's not worth it if I had a GT or Shelby, the kind of engine or car doesn't matter at all! It's the risk and stupidity that is involved no matter who's doing it.

You're right. I'm gonna ignore it.

Btw, BlackMamba03 has small man issues probably because he has a girls name. Lol

The problem is we cannot ignore it. Inevitably there will be some spirited debate about how V6's aren't worth anybody's time and then eventually somebody will call somebody else the antichrist and then the mods will step in and tell us to get on track...that's how we work

But...people will race with anything...just because it's a V6 or even a 4 cylinder doesn't make it any safer...a friend of mine lost her brother racing a nissan in his accord...the size of the engine doesn't change the fact that it's a stupid thing to do.

I was not expecting this thread to get like this lol! I do not street race, never have never will. Won't take that risk of injuring anyone.

That's all I have to say and sorry to anyone who's had to deal with any tragedy dealing with this. No intentions to offend anyone.

All I wanted to know if people get approached differently for having a stang basically...but now this thread is quite entertaining if you ask me!

While we're at it, don't do drugs either folks! Lol
