Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me, considering I generally pay $65 for Castrol full synthetic oil and a K&N oil filter to do it myself.
8 quarts assuming one has the 5.0 model. The 3.7 only takes 6 quarts. 6 quarts of oil @ $5 each, theres $30. Oil filter is $ 8 so thats $ 38. I would go to Goodyear for my oil and tire rotations and for 6 quarts of synthetic oil they charge around 60 bucks plus $10 for tire rotation. Thats 70 dollars. I can do my oil change for 38 dollars and do it in way less than 3 hours that it takes me to have it changed at Goodyear or a delaership.

I had my oil changed at my car dealership once and I waited over 2 1/2 hours for it. That didnt include the 40 minute trip there and back home. F that.

Goodyear has oil change specials they run for 30 dollars but its only for up to 5 quarts and its regular oil.

Wow, seeing these prices thrown around makes me feel good about Don Davis Ford where I bought mine. Oil and filter change for my GT with my weight choice of Motorcraft syn blend - $32.

Oil changes could be free and I still wouldn't do it. I have little faith in others doing the work properly...I'd end up jacking it up again and checking the plug torque and immediately checking oil level and what filter they use...

Plus I like being under cars. It's relaxing. It's a nice break from being covered in plastic dust from my day job.

I must add: When i changed my oil the next time (and everytime) myself, the filter came off with my hand and i had to use a breaker bar to remove the oil drain plug

I don't trust anyone - especially the dealer. I have no good experiences with them.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm going to take my car to my friend's place that has a driveway and change it myself next time. I'll only go back to the dealer for a warranty issue if any.

There is a hand car wash attached to a Quick Change right near my favorite breakfast restaurant. I drive the car in and 5 minutes later oil change is done. Easy Peasy! I take in the wife's 2013 Edge Limited as well. They are quite careful to check everything and I've never had a problem. That said, 8 quarts of mobile 1 isn't cheap at this joint.

After that, I drop it off for a loving hand car wash and go next door for some oatmeal and coffee. It's a nice little morning. 4 times per year I go for a wax with one of those a full polish job. So convienent and they do a better job than I would.

I know many people change their own oil, but because of where I live I am unable to do this. Love my car and this is just a minor irritation.
40K for a CS coupe?

Go to the Ford Owners web site. Under coupons/rebates you will find "The Work" package coupon. It's Oil, filter, rotation, multi-point inspection for $39.95. Print it off, and take it to the service folks.

Clevor, my dealers uses the ramp lift.

37k + comfort package, gears and NJ sales tax, yes. There were no black 6 speed GT/CS for sale near me at the time so I special ordered back in September. Sure I could have waited or bought used...but wanted to be the only owner.

It took you two weeks in class to learn how too change your oil and filter. Dang! I just watched some 15 minute you tube video and called it a day. Lol.

haha nah it was the different additives that go into oil, oil life, all that it does, and that type of stuff. it got really in depth about it and we spent about a whole day on how the oil that a oil change place uses and the oil that you buy is completely different even if its got the exact same name and brand. about every oil change place uses recycled oil btw. especially the express lube type places.

Are you serious? So, Mobil 1 at the Goodyear or Dealerships is different than Mobil 1 at Wal Mart or the auto parts store?

it really depends. a lot of local places have to use different stuff to compete with the express lube type business. its not that that oil at express lube type places will hurt your engine or anything but i just dont like recycled oil. they take the used oil that comes out of cars and refine it and remove and replace the additives and repackage it. a lot of the cheap and generic brand oil you buy at auto parts stores is recycled oil too.
