Just hit 66, retired since 62. Bought my first Mustang (2014 3.7 dib). I've owned many Fords..my first car was a used '57 Ford.(great car, I couldn't kill it!). Owned quite a few MoPars after that. I've always worked on my own cars....restored a few cars as well.
I went back with FoMoCo to stay, starting with a '93 GL Taurus.
The car before this 'stang was a 2010 Fusion 30 Duratec...it is a fantastic car.
Don't like the new I-4 engines in the new Fusion so decided to go with the Mustang 37......I had a hard time talking the wife into going with a 2dr coupe but she has adjusted to the smaller trunk and no rear doors, but now I think she is beginning to like it almost as much as me. If we need more room we take the pick-up, so it all works out.
This Mustang is without a doubt the most enjoyable car that I have ever
owned or driven, it is far more then the average cookie cutter style transportation on the road today!
Now "Samantha" (SYNC) can get on my last nerve once in awhile lol.

My vehicles:
Born in 1970, I have owned the following.
in 1992 (age 22), a 1984? Renault Alliance purchased for $500
in 1993 (23), a 1985-87? Mazda 626 purchased for $500
in 1994 (24), a 1987? Subaru GL Turbo Wagon purchased for $1000
in 2001 (31), a 1995? Toyota Corolla purchased for $2000
Up to now, years are fuzzy. Why? Because until this point, my opinion of cars is that they are a commodity to get me from point A to point B. Spend the least you can, discard and replace when necessary. This opinion changes 180 degrees with the purchase of my first Mustang.
in 2004 (34), a 1999 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible
in 2011 (40), a 2008 Ford Focus SE
in 2013 (43), a 2014 Ford Mustang V6 Coupe (arriving soon)

First Mustang
What a great idea for a post!
I'm 64 years old.
My first car at 16 years of age was a $400, 1957 Ford Fairlane, 2door automatic. Black. Nice car, but it wasn't anything special. After a year or two of that, I spotted a 1964 Chevy Impala SS Convertible, midnight blue, that I had to have. I drove that car all through high school It had the 327 4-speed and it was a sweet machine. I have lots of memories of warm summer nights with the top down. It came with a cup holder. She was 18 and blonde.
Over the years, I've had several others including a Lexus 420 LS, a Lexus 300ES, a Nissan 300ZX, and a Corvette C5. Those are the ones that stand out.
My previous car was a 2011 BMW 335iX, 4-door. 300 hp. Nice car, but I hated it. I didn't like the looks of it. I didn't like the leather on the seats. My wife and I both found it uncomfortable on a long drive, and difficult to get in and out of. (we're old). The Germans don't believe in drinking and driving, so they don't put cup holders in their cars. Those they send to America do have them, but they're little pop-out gizmos that come out of the dash. Chintzy. Also, for some reason, the engine doesn't have a dipstick, so there's no way to check your oil. I grew up in the old days when it was important to know if you were low on oil. I didn't like that aspect of it. Call me old school.
After driving the BMW for less than a year, I finally decided I couldn't take it any longer and had to trade it in. I did a lot of research and finally settled on a new 2012 GT Premium in Sterling Gray with the MT82 and the 401a premium interior in black with the cashmere stripe.
I have owned STANG1 for 18 months now, and she has a touch over 12K miles on the clock so far. I look forward to driving it. I enjoy looking at it every night in the garage before I go to bed. I receive LOTS of compliments from people in parking lots. I love it. I really do. It's the first car that has replaced the top spot favorite (the 64SS Convertible) as my all-time Number One car. It not only looks great, it has all the power you could ask for. Plus, the exhaust has mellowed to a nice beefy burble that's a treat for the ears.
So, take some advice from an old guy. If you want keep a smile on your face when you're driving, and even after you get out and look back as you're walking away, get yourself a Mustang. You won't be sorry.
