there is a few that got their 2013 models, can you check if the trunk rear panel be removed, or can that fake gas cap be removed?

I'm thinking of 2 options, 1 is to remove it and install a plain panel there and clean up the look, or clean it up and paint it flat black, i just think if there is a way to clean up the back panel it would look pretty slick. i bought some carbon fiber stuff to put on there, would look sweet!!

any ideas?

The 2013 decklid itself is the same as the 2010-12 but modified with mounting holes to secure that new glossy rear panel. I am thinking if you just want a different style rear panel the aftermarket ones for 2010-12 should still fit fine in the same space. You will likely have to cover the mounting holes with some heavy tape before you install an alternate panel so you can keep the water out.

I say to anyone out there that does not like the glossy black panel to just paint it matte black or even body color if you prefer that look.

I would be willing to bet that the aftermarket will be producing options for those not liking the factory set up. They did it for the last one so I'm sure they will do it again.

I doubt they will need to... They will likely just extend the applications of the ones that exist for the 10-12 models to include the 13-14 models since the decklids are identical except for the mounting holes for the 13-14 panel.

That should work if what you want is Saleen written across the back.

I don't think that is going to be possible, as I'm thinking it is not a material that could retain paint well.

So for those not liking the glossy panel, you'll have to remove it and hope the factory still painted underneath completely, and that the factory glossy panel didn't ruin the paint.

Also, you can remove the panel and faux gas cap and install a Saleen panel and such.

Yes the trunklid is no doubt painted completely.

The decklid glossy plastic can be painted with no problem. It can be prepared by wet sanding with fine paper and using an adhesion promoter. You just don't spray paint directly onto a glossy surface.

Also, taillamps of older Mustangs were painted with body color.... The 87-93 Fox Mustang GT cheese graters and all of the 94-95 taillamps had body color applied to one piece red taillamp lenses which were glossy.
