A typical special order takes 8-10 weeks, and a lot of 2011 Mustangs have taken 4-5 months to arrive, so 41 days may have been one of the quicker turnarounds so early in the model year.

We are limited to how many vehicles we can order by Ford. Ford has a specific allocation each week for each dealer for each car line to be able to order. However, some very popular models (i.e. 11 Mustang, hybrids, etc.) can be ordered in bigger quantities for customers' special orders if we complete a specific form (retail order verification form) to prove to Ford that the order is for a customer and not just to load up the inventory on the lot. These special orders don't count against the normal allocation.

Quick! I'd watch that back axle. Many of ours have already turned an ugly shade of orange. I'll have to take pics I'm sure.

Brian:

Anything your folks can do to this rear axle while it's still clean to keep it from getting all rusty and orange? I'm going to be under there quite a bit and I don't want to see that!

Mine isn't rusty or orange, and my 07 GT is a daily driver that's seen rain, snow, etc. Of course, we don't salt our roads in the winter, like many areas in the country.

You may want to get under yours and paint the axle if it's a concern. I have a friend who painted his axle in his 07 GT500 to prevent the surface rust, and it looks easy enough to do.

I'm beating the hell out of mine daily. I just went past 1000 and am taking it into the dealership tomorrow for its first oil change. This car is a blast. Using my iphone stopwatch, a friend of mine did very unscientific 0-60 times for us and we averaged 4.3-4.6 with him in the seat... he weighs 180 about. This car is amazing. I am still looking for excuses to leave the house with it. I haven't driven the bmw in 2 weeks now!

Hi Brian, I'm from the Bellingham area (2 hrs north) and will be looking to buy a 5.0 Premium in the near future. (Kona Blue, 6speed stick, 401A, and 3.55 rear axle). Do you still do special order prices at $99 over factory invoice? Also, it would be critical that my $750 private cash offer from Ford be usable (it expires 9/30/10).

PM me if you can provide more info...thanks!

We've dropped our special order prices to just $99 over the factory invoice total and you keep all the rebates you qualify for upon delivery.

Or, we just happen to have a performance white '11 Premium GT here today with 3.73's and Brembos on sale for a couple grand below MSRP - click here for details...

Hi, Kevin, I'll PM you this info just in case you don't check this thread often. Yes, we're still special ordering 2011 Mustang GT's for $99 over the factory invoice total. Any rebates you qualify for that are in effect at the time you take delivery are yours to keep. If your $750 private cash offer expires before your car arrives, then I can't honor it (that's Ford's rules, not ours). Worth noting, Ford increased the factory rebate on 2011 GT's from $500 to $1000 a couple of days ago, so there's a little extra incentive!

Stop in, email, or call anytime. I'm in the office M-F, 9-5. www.BowenScarff.com
