Odd vibration in tranny...

I recently bought a 2012 V6. Got the Premium with the Pony Package. Anyway so I've had the car now just a little over a month. Its now got 3,044 miles on it and I've noticed just after getting on the throttle that if I let the gear wind down between 2-3k rpm there's this odd vibration. ( if what I'm saying sounds too confusing, lol try this: get your car rolling to 2nd gear, punch it till 4k then let off and let the gear wind down. )

My guess...
Two piece axel is binding up a little on decel. Try getting on it in reverse some and see if you get the same response. I suggest being in a very open parking lot. When you do it in reverse you should notice the vibration when you punch it. Then smooth out when you let it decel.

I'll have to try that. What if it is binding, is it normal or does that mean I need to get it looked at? I was just told that the 2010+has some "ball" that spins around somewhere either in the tranny or shifter and that's what may be causing it? Lol

Not so sure on that... But I do know the two piece driveshaft causes some problems.

This decel vibration is a known issue by Ford. It is due to the dual mass flywheel and is not a real problem and there is no fix offered by Ford.

About the only way to get rid of it is to install and aftermarket solid aluminum flywheel and SPEC is the only company making them right now, they run about $500.

Best thing to do is just not worry about it.

Ya know I had a sneaky suspicion that was it. Just didn't know enough to tell. So it's no big deal then? I just didn't want something getting loose and coming apart on me was my only worry. Thanks or that.

Oh hey! Thanks, I did do that. They said it was normal so I'm not sure. I guess it will always be there so long as I have that flywheel.
