I've got ten years on you, and only now is it a good financial decision for me to pick up a GT500. It also coincides with the best one ever built (potentially), and one I just couldn't say no to. There will be a car in five or ten years that will get you that excited again. I think you're being smart, and you're still getting one hell of a payoff with the car you chose.

 

Thanks KCO! Applies to Jason too. I never thought about ford but the last few years, they have been on top of their game. Not necessarily on a sales pov but then again no bailout and they are still kicking butt. I'm proud to be a ford owner. I look forward to pix of you baby when you get her.

 

Ha. That may be a while. But unlike some people whom threw a tantrum in full view of every member on this board and in all likelihood canceled an order of a car they said they were obsessed over, I have some patience. The longer it takes to get here, the smaller my monthly payment becomes.

Like I said, I waited to order until I got the Shelby prices (I was calling it my due diligence) and as a result, it's looking like I'll receive my GT Track in less than 4 weeks from order date. Now that's astounding! I ordered a new 3 Series back in 2005, shortly after the E90 went into production, and it took almost 3 months for delivery. This Ford order does feel like Amazon in comparison!

What color are you thinking on the GT500? Where are you located?

 

OK just got the ETA for the car to make it to Ft Lauderdale from Deysha. Car will hopefully make it there on 4/28. That would definitely beat the late June delivery date the dealership gave me, I guess they wanted to buy themselves the right amount of time and not let me down.

That's quick. Where are you located? It looks like getting the car to you will take a while.

 

Seattle area. I was shocked that I had the VIN within a week of placing the order when everyone else I've seen gets it within a month.

But yeah, it will take a bit for it to get here after it's built

 

I suspect that the wait might have to do also with model ordered. Are they likely to schedule V6s a bit quicker 'cause they make more? I'm also guessing some of the preorder backlog is caught up.

 

Good point. I know the track packs took weeks longer than brembo cars. Also you do see 1000 v6 cars to each GT so your statement has a lot of validity.

I'm very curious to know what the rate is at ford and the know the 2011 production figures of V6 vs V8

 

Looks like it is going to be a wicked exciting month round here. Deysha just hooked me up this morning with VIN, Window Sticker is up , Build Date of 4/11, and Delivery ETA of 4/30. Much earlier than anticipated so thats awesome, but seems like a while between build and delivery...I'm in NC. Either way, Awesome news today.

 

I'm in San Antonio, and I ran the gamut on colors. Like 2k7gtcs, it gave me headaches because this car will be with me when I'm gray. Lots of pressure. I thought about blue, and I love the DIB, but the previous 08 Shelby GT I had was a similar blue with silver striping. I loved it but wanted something different. I thought about race red but that color is pretty common around here, and it's just a shade too bright for me. Thought about the new red candy and just couldn't make myself like it enough. White would have looked awesome if I could have gotten dark blue stripes, but the grabber blue just doesn't grab me. Besides it was the one color my wife was adamant about not getting (the grabber blue, not the white). So my options were silver, sterling grey and black. She complained up one side and down the other about the sterling grey looking too much like primer, and didn't like any of the stripe colors on the silver. Originally I had focused on black with red stripes, and in the end that's where we ended up. I'm happy with it, I know it's harder to keep a black car clean but in my mind, this GT500 just looks so much better in black than it does in anything else. The Mustang commercial with the black GT500 at the end certainly helped. Once that was decided, the red stripes were a given.

Edit: I'll be waiting a minimum of 3 months, probably longer, to take delivery. The way I look at it is that I've waited my whole life for the perfect car. I love the S197 style and am unsure enough about what the redesign is going to look like that getting the S197 style was an easy choice. The GT500 has always been at the top of my 'gotta-have' list of things. There has never been a better, more powerful version, and while there may be a better one yet down the road, this one is close enough to perfect for me. So, what's a few months more? To me, it feels like it's going to happen tomorrow, because I've been waiting years. Knowing that the order has been accepted by Ford and it's just a matter of time now is an incredibly exciting thing to me. Hell, the wait will make taking delivery that much more enjoyable.

 

Sky, wait now. The Wifey's ETA is 4/22 also. That's gonna be one busy truck driver, eh.........

One thing that's strange though is you ordered 2/22, and we ordered 3/19. Did the track pack make that much difference?

There is so much more to the entire process and the randomness of how it works! I ordered a GT/CS on 3/16 and it is still in processing. I am in no way complaining, there is just more to it than the date that the order is placed
