You probably pay about 25 cents more a gallon for 93 as compared to 87. If you drive your car year round you'll pay at least $200 more per year for gas.
If someone said they could boost your engine 10HP for $200 would you pay it?
Perhaps, but if that same upgrade was going to cost you $200 EVERY year would you think it was worth it?
I'd bet no one would buy that upgrade and everyone would say it's not worth that kind of money just for 10HP (which again would be impossible to feel). So why waste that money on 93 (or 91) octane?

You're making me laugh talking about sacrificing performance! What performance? 402 vs 412? You'd NEVER, EVER notice that difference.
But continue deluding yourself.

So the 1-2 mpg increase going from 87 to 93 is false too? Over the length of the year, how much is that extra $0.20 really costing you?
And if people didn't care about 10hp they'd never install underdrive pullies or electric water pumps.

What he's saying is that the 10hp you get from the higher octane is costing you 200.00 to 250.00 dollars every year. While the 10hp you get from underdrive pulleys has a one time cost of 100.00 or so. When you think about it, if you keep the car for 6 years than you've payed 1500.00 for 10hp
UDPs for $100? Show me. I guess if we were really smart we'd be driving Priuses. I can swing a few extra dollars a fill up. If money was that tight I wouldn't have gotten this car in the first place. How many people get 87 octane tunes for their cars and actually use them? We all want the most performance out of our cars we can get, no matter the cost.

I actually did gain 1-2 MPG, when I installed my tune and run 91, thats the best we can get here, but with the extra cost of 91, its moot.. It sure does run better though.....

OP, nice write-up. You will get much better at the 6 speed as times goes by. And if you get the chance, have you Dad take you out where he can really wind the supercharger up. Then you can feel the difference. It is amazing. And yep Joe. I have owned a supercharged Ford.

You can but, I'll back the guy up. Saw 26.2 at 65 to 70 mph on the Wifey's '13 GT. Ran constantly between 25.8 and 26.4 for approx. 200 miles with the auto trans, and 3.31 gears.
