Dude with an '88 5.0 told me i should be ashamed to have those 5.0 badges on a 4.6. Told him he better wake up and get with the times and then popped the hood. Talk about surprised. Then i told him it had 412 hp and auto's were running high 12's. Talk about speechless.

You shoulda told him that he needs to stop living in the 80s! Does he know that NKOTB not only disbanded, but GOT BACK TOGETHER*?

* I actually saw NKOTB at the Orlando airport in feb. 2009 (or was it 2008? The years blend together) a few weeks before they announced they were getting back together. They were picking up their baggage from the Airtran belt. It was kind of a sad sight. The little asian guy was happy to chat with me and my buddy but Donny put a big hat and big dark sunglasses on and was sulking in the corner. I guess he's just perpetually pissed that he's not Mark... lol

i dont know whats worse.. the fact you recognised them after all these years, or the fact you know them by name?

Well just Donny Wahlberg, and that's only because my wife has a huge crush on Mark Wahlberg. To tell you the truth, I only recognized Donny, and thought to myself, I wonder if he's here with the rest of the new kids on the block? Hah hah! Wouldn't that be a hoot! And then I slowly noticed the other members... and started going No... f***ing... way... could it be? So I googled it on my blackberry and compared the tiny picture to the dude standing right in front of me... and sure as ****, there they were.

They never said they were getting back together, but there was only one logical reason for them to all be together all these years later. So I can legitimately say I knew NKOTB was getting back together before almost anybody else.

The funniest thing about it was, the short guy (I guess he isn't really asian-looking, just short and has a skinny face, second from the left here) saw me looking back and forth between my phone and his face - it was pretty obvious I was comparing him to a photo (of him) and he goes "yeah, it's me... been a while, huh?"

My response? "Well now I've seen everything."

A few mustang drivers knew that my 5.0 was the new model but mostly people just love looking at it! This car is turning a lot of heads when I drive it around.

On Thursday a guy in a brand new Jaguar XJ pulled up beside me at a light, rolled down his window and said "Man, that is the nicest looking Mustang I've ever seen. I'm jealous!". Odd comment from a Jag driver, but awesome none the less!

This seems just like back in 93' when they switched to the SN95 bodystyle(just like 2010 model) and when they brought out the 4.6 modular in 95' without changing much concerning visual aspects besides badges(just like 2011 model). Albeit I was a newborn back then, but it seems like a prior version of what's happening now.

I can just imagine the majority of people back then unaware that the 96+ SN95's had different motors.

Eh you get all sorts of people regardless of what you drive. A buddy at work got in my car last week and we were BSing because another co-worker just picked up a new C63 AMG. So the comment was passed, well your car is a 5 liter right? Sure, right, whatever. lol

The new motor and the AL block for the GT500 should have come out last year. Critical mistake IMO.

Now ford is in a position where they are selling the car as the "all new" 2011 mustang when the only thing that is new is the power plants and transmissions. Everything else is the 2010 bits on top of mostly the same 2005+ underpinnings. Which is totally cool, but I can't stand the deceptive sales pitch lol.

Yeah, the 2011 is mostly the same as the 2010, just a bit more rigid, bigger brakes, more options, Electronic Steering, standard limited slip diff., sure, but I'd go ahead and say it uses the shell of the 2010 more than anything.

As regarding this post, pretty funny stuff about the confusion to the Mustang. I have a guy that works right next to me and has this G37 that he always raves about. I concede it is getting the first true supercharger for the G37 put in it and I congradulated him. Somewhere around 550 Hp at the crank. Very impressive. I didn't want to knock the guy as I was trying to be nice even though the guy is a tool. Anyway, he always wants me to check the status on the G forums about his car cause I guess he thinks it's our bond, cars.
So one day last week he tells me about taking his wife's 95 Camaro into the shop at a local Chevy dealer and low and behold he tells me there is some kind of $120,000 Corvette sitting out front. Doesn't know the name of it, has no idea what it is, other than it's an expensive Corvette. He goes on to list some of the specs, how it's possibly supercharged, and has 600 Hp, but how expensive it is and how he would never pay that much for a Corvette. I just didn't know people lived that much under a rock. So I sit in my chair wondering should I mention the Carbon-Ceramic brakes, the Carbon-Fiber roof or various other aspects of said super Corvette, what do they call it?.....Oh yeah, ZR1. Maybe even mention the Lotus built DOHC engine put in the 90's version...nope, I just basked in the glory of the moment. Otherwise I'd help a brother out and explain to them the importance of the automotive discovery they had just made, but not for this guy. Thanks for this thread!

Don't get me wrong, I don't know everything about all things, but this is a no brainer.

The only people that will know are car enthusiasts or Mustang fans. So about 2% of the population.

The trained eye will always notice. The general public will float by in ignorance.

Same goes with my Speed6. Most people thought I put the Speed3 motor in a regular Mazda6. Not many people know it was a limited production car. Nevermind the totally different interior, and nearly all panels front and rear are unique to the car. Doesn't bother me either way.

My previous car was an Acura RSX Type S. I already had my 2010 at the time and went to the Acura dealer to do paperwork and I had the entire dealership outside drooling over my car. At least five employees wanted to sit in it.

Haha Matt was telling me yesterday about a kid who inquired about Bill's Speed3 and said "Great car, I love what you did with the black wheels, real clean man. Just one question, what is Mazdaspeed??"

LOL! I used to tell that to Jaguar owners! "Nice car man, that's a Kia Amanti isn't it? Oh, it isn't? Well, it looks just as good as the Kia!"

I have told ricers my Mach1 is a strip package I added and it was a V6. They bought it until we got on the street. They are incredibly gullible. Its amazing how stupid some people are. I have had people ask me how I tell the difference at such a distance. I told them I was into Mustangs and could spot a Cobra from a Mach from a Shelby a mile away. The common man has no clue. Ricers are even stupider. LOL.

I am not into racing on the sreet. I try not to do it. Ricers are my only exception. I will put them down fast. if things are safe. I dont condone it at all. But, its so much fun to put them away. I try to be responsible and please dont think I am crazy. I know its against the law.

Ricers are my enemy and not Camaros or other Mustangs. I hate them. I hope to god I was not that supid at a young age. My good friend has a son who is a ricer with a Neon. He has a Covrette and his son has no interest in it. WTF? How could you not be interested in a Vette? ?What is wrong with kids today?

Hollywood. Namely "The Fast and Furious" even though the Charger was cool.

The vast majority of people do not follow all the automotive tech, makes or models unless they have one themselves. To most people a mustang is a mustang whether it is a V6, GT, Mach, Bullitt, or Shelby. We should be enjoying these for ourselves, not for others' opinions.
