New wheels and springs today

Just came back from the shop a little earlier today.

It now has a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs. It looks like it's lowered about 1", and still has a very slight rake.

The wheels are Ford Racing 2012 Boss 302S 19 X 9, all four corners. I got a great deal from Levittown Ford Superstore....with shipping it was less than $200 per wheel.

I never needed the Eibach 1" spacers. The extra 1/2" width of the Boss wheels plus a deeper backspace/offset seemed to fill out the wheel openings nicely. The new wheels and attitude are exactly what I was looking for. Only a minor toe tweak was needed.

In the little I've driven it this afternoon, I feel no noticible difference in ride quality yet.

Here are some before and after shots....not the best, but I'm working on my photog skills.

Tom

Nice! Always fun how a different wheel style can completely change the look.

Thanks. The pics don't do it justice....looks way better in person, especially after a 4 hour clean and detail session this morning.

The sun is out, top is down, and it's cruise time this afternoon.

Drove it a whole lot today and got a better feel for the springs.

Highway driving is no different comfort-wise. It feels the same. Steering feels more nimble and responsive, but that could be my imagination. There's seems to be less body roll, not that there was much before.

On side and back roads, especially bumpy ones, the car feels stiffer, but not uncomfortable.

Best way I can describle it is that it's tighter without any significant loss of comfort. I also think the wider wheels with the different offset makes for a wider track and I'm sure that helps.

Since you and I have 'verts which are heavier, about 1" seems about right. There more of drop on the coupes.

It's very easy to get used to, and best of all there's still no interference going up my driveway apron.

Let us know how you make out.

Wow, it really looks great!
Did you purchase the camber plates or any other suspension mods?
I have wanted to lower my convertible as well but feared ride and other component problems.
Thanks for any advice.

No other mods necessary. The Eibach Pro Kit lowers it about an inch, no clearance issues, the ride isn't affected dramatically, and the only adjustment was a minor toe tweak.

I wanted just a cosmetic mod...I'm not abusing or tracking the car. So far, so good.

Thanks

Looks good, Tom. I'm glad to hear your alignment is good after the drop. I did my Civic back in college and the alignment was a huge pain.
