Ford 3.7L V6: 305hp @ 6500rpm; 280lb-ft/tq @ 4250 rpm (Mustang)

GM 3.6L V6: 304hp @ 6,400rpm; 273lb-ft/tq @ 5,200 rpm (Camaro)

Hyundai 3.8L V6: 306hp @ 6300rpm; 266lb-ft/tq @ 4700 rpm (Genesis Coupe)

Nissan 3.7L V6: 332hp @ 7000rpm; 270lb-ft/tq @ 5200rpm (370Z)

The Ford makes more peak torque than any of the other engines listed above with the Camaro coming closest, although the difference between the Camaro and Mustang isn't huge. More impressive, the Mustangs torque peak occurs nearly 1000rpm lower than the in the Camaro, which is not insignificant. That might not be so surprising but for the fact that, with the exception of the Nissan, peak hp is more or less a wash here. And here again we find that the rpm where this occurs tells us something, the Ford produces that peak hp just a tick higher than in either the GM or Hyundai which says that the Ford pulls just as well if not better throughout the entire power band than both the Hyundai and GM despite the superior low end torque the Ford produces. I would argue that this is impressive because low end torque has often been gained at the sacrifice of peak power in years past, all else being equal.

Sounds like very good head and intake design and a well thought out vvt setup to me....and an impressive overall power band.

I honestly can't see them blurring the lines with back to back releases. The GT will murder the V6 hype.

Well, that's a shame. I guess it was just a rumor the 2011 GT info would be released on Wednesday (or at the LA Autoshow at all).

Probably. All the people who should know that I've heard or read who mentioned when it should be announced were saying middle of December.

Is this the same block as the Econ Boost family of engines? Or is it a version of the 265HP V6 in the Edge?

I've put a request in to my sources to get a firm date on the GT info embargo, and will post back when I get one.

Will do. I'm trying to prove my worth so far, since I'm new here. I have had some reliable info on the brake upgrades and seeing the cars with the 2011 graphic on the side.

Yeah, there are some changes made to the 011s so you will be able to see a difference... if you have an eye.

As for the 0-60 times... I would guess they would be around the same as th genesis coupe. About 5.7sec... It's crazy, the new edge model gt's were doing that... Makes me think we are looking at a 4.5sec 0-60 GT for 2011

The quirks became so annoying that I eventually stopped using it. My advice to anyone who wants to choose their own gear is to buy the manual and save the money.
The shiftable automatics all generally suffer from this because they are still automatics. There are a bunch of internal clutches and mechanisms, along with a torque converter that has its own mannerisms. I wholeheartedly agree that if you want to maximize the driving experience, get a manual gearbox. Forget the flappy paddle gearbox or shiftable automatic, go with the synchronized manual transmission.

Would I be correct in assuming that you're referring to changes besides those mentioned in the press release?

Well like the V6 has the dual exhaust and slight front end changes... + some other stuff.
I'd bet the GT has the same kinda things with it.

holy sh*t, the curb weight for the V6 is estimated at 3750 - 4000 lb. That's at least 300 lb heavier than the 05-09 S197 GT's.

And what's that I see on the Ti-VCT system? A timing belt? LOL. I'm going to stick with timing chains or gears.

I will guarantee you that the v6 will not weigh that much. The fact that they have the manual listed as 250 pounds (!) more than the automatic is a dead giveaway that this is not anywhere close to the actual weight. An auto equipped car should weigh in a few dozen pounds more. Think closer to 3450 for manual and 3500 pounds for automatics if you ask me (not that I am claiming to be a source at all).
