My 2014 GT came with the big silver 5-spokes. I bought replacements and dropped both the old and new rims on a scale to compare. I was surprised the stockers were only 26.0 pounds each. My replacements were Motegi MR126 18 X 8 wheels. Tire Rack advertised them at 18.9 pounds each but the scale read 19.9 which is still a total reduction of 24 pounds so I was happy.

I really like my supersnake rims and do not want to have to replace them with another set, any ideas?
there is also a device that recalibrates your speedometer in case you don't want to buy a tuner. I believe it is about $125. I was going to buy it when I switched from 19" to 20" wheels, but I figured out the MPH difference is only about 1-2%, so I left it alone.

Right now the car is not being used for the winter. After hand calculating the mpg, the mpg is fine, it just needs a tuner to re calibrate it.

My issue is, should I sell the wheels and get lighter wheels?

I really like the supersnakes, 34lb 20x9 and 36lb 20x10. Looking at a boss302s 19x10 the weight is 34lb which seems pretty heavy for a performance derived wheel. I do not like pissing away money so if If the difference in performance is not noticeable i'd rather not. My main aim with the car is to have a very fast and sharp handling car.

Thoughts?

May be he is running a taller tire than stock which could down MPGs ????

The weight will not effect your MPG. It is the Rolling resistance and tire width. The wider the more resistance. Also if you changed the diameter to a smaller one will negatively effect MPG. Or maybe its just you pushing the pedal harder sine you have new tires. LOL

If you are going to spend the money for light wheels, you might as well get light wheels -- which means down around 20 pounds each. 18" Forgestars are in that area for about $350/each.

I didn't look back to see if you are tracking the car; but if you are only using it on the street, I very much doubt you will see any difference with the lighter wheels.
