GOING CRAZY. All I want is to duplicate the over-the-top "Guardsman Blue" twin stripes used on old and recent Shelby GT500's that are white with that metallic blue decal "Le Mans" striping. The guys who sell the decal kits use 3M colors, none of which seem to match (the "dark blue metallic" may be a match, not sure). I just received my 3M color samples from Graphic Express and am not sure whether the dark blue is light enough.

The guys who sell Avery vinyl come close in color with "Electric Blue" (I also have in hand the official Avery color chart), but I am still not convinced; besides, I've not found one who sells the over the top stripes, only the side tripes.

Apparently the 3M guys know nothing about the Avery chart and the Avery guys won't use anything BUT the Avery chart, and NOBODY seems to know what color on their chart is the exact same as the Shelby GT500 blue stripe blue color. Nobody seems to have a clue what Guardsman Blue is.

I am going freakin' NUTS on this! Why is it so hard to freakin' duplicate the Shelby decals for my 2011 white 'vert? If I can match on decals (the "Deluxe Le Mans" kits I've found are about $209), I'd rather do that than paint (estimates I've received range from $1200 to $1600.

Does anyone know The Deal (what is the color called and from who is it to be bought? I can't believe how hard this is.

 

If you order two different widths of stripe, beware that they may not be the same color even tho they're supposed to be. My red is two different colors. Same manufacturer, same code. Which is another good reason to for sure have mine painted.
