Need help with 3.7 Intake Cover

Just purchased an OE intake cover for the 3.7 from seller on ebay. I like the looks in place:

Problem is, I it doesn't snap into place. There are two receiving holes in the composite manifold, and two male ends on the underside of the cover. The holes in the manifold appear to be way too large, so the cover just kind of sits there and flops around without a secure "snap".

The manifold holes:

and the male ends under the cover:

Am I missing something here? Is there supposed to be another part either in the manifold holes (an insert?) or something else on the cover underside? I'm thinking that maybe the Perf Pack 3.7 manifold holes are different somehow in order to accept the cover (which BTW is not plastic, but instead some kind of heavy duty foam rubber).

Paid a lot for this...

But the two plastic ball pins you show in the bottom picture push into something? If so maybe thats all thats needed.

I don't know I talked to my dealer a couple days ago and he won't be able to order one until the 20 something of this month. I think he said they cost $132 not with tax added. Maybe someone with the Performance Package V-6 will look at their engine cover for us.

There are inserts that fit in the holes, I would go back to the ebay seller and tell him you need them and the cover is no good without them. If he doesn't supply them or won't get them for you then I would give him a negative feedback and comment as to why.

Other than that you will need to go to the dealer to order the inserts.

Simple rubber grommets. Check and see if the dealer has a listing, or pick up at Home depot for <$1

You may be able to use a universal grommet but the Ford inserts will be made for the job.

I see the problem now. Can't wait until i can order one. I'm going to order from my dealer so i can make sure everything comes with it. I think they can have the engine cover delivered to them in 2 days.

I think it's probably normal that the cover doesn't come with the grommets. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you have to order them separately.

I'm sure they do come seperately but whoever is going to sell these should know this and either inform you of it or supply them with it. If they just throw them out on ebay without any mention of it they will get a lot of unhappy customers and negative feedback.

I don't think that is the sellers responsibility. They are living up to their end of the deal. They are advertising OEM Ford part number XYZ123. That is what you purchased and that is what you received. When selling thousands of parts they can't be expected to know every nuance that Ford throws out there. eBay would side with the seller, but that wouldn't stop a buyer from leaving negative feedback. Unjustified negative feedback in this case. Just my 2 cents.

I see what you are saying though. If I was the seller I would edit any future listings to say "two grommets, part #... are required for installation."

Thanks everyone. I called my selling dealer parts guy and confirmed two manifold grommets are needed for this cover to snap into place. Should have them shortly and I'll update the posting with photos. Ebay seller was allfordparts.com out of VA. No big deal with the listing, I'll give them good feedback as I also ordered and installed the strut bar (easy install and looks good). Everything arrived quickly and in good shape.

Cool. How much did they cost? Hopefully just a few dollars.

Got the intake cover installed. The grommets were less than $5 for both. You can install the cover without removing the OE strut tower brace - just a little finagaling to get it in between the brace and the intake. Looks good.

What I'd like to know is why Ford didn't design the cover so it covers the ugly intake plenum as well, then it would be worth having.

Think I will just have to make my own.
