Is it necessary to get an oil change after 1k mi?
"""Does motorcraft make a full synthetic oil or just that synthetic blend stuff? """
My local Advance Auto Parts carries Motorcraft full-syn 5w-20w,, They retail it for 4,99 a quart ...
I did change my oil in my '10 GT at 500-miles as I was going on a 3,000-mile road trip .. It's a good thing I did as the oil filter was on so tight I would've had a heck of a time getting it off after 5,000+ miles ... Now I'll run the oil 8,-10,000 miles and not worry about,, I put 240-k miles on my old V-6 98 F-150 running extended oil changes ...
Personally, I buy whatever full-syn oil Wally-World has on sale when it's time to change. They usually have Mobile-1 or Valvoline on sale for under $20 for the 5-qt container,, Luckily the same Wix filter for my 5.4l is used on the 4.6l, I picked up a 24 pack when I bought my truck off ebay for $80 a couple years ago.. I've used 6 of em' so far ...

They make both. The full synthetic is hard to find in most areas. I would go with mobil 1 or pennzoil plat but thats just me. Probably PP because of the price and I think its just as good. Motorcraft semi synthetic is really just dino also from what I understand. In other words its equal to just p lain old yellow bottle pennzoil. I am certainly no expert here but this is what I have gathered from my reading. With that said, motorcraft semi synthetic gets rave reviews as a great oil for the price. I doubt you could go wrong with it.
As for me I'm happy with the blend because I don't drive enough to offset full synth's cost. I'd be changing once/yr (3-5000 miles) anyway to flush any blow-by contaminants (fuel & spent gases) - regardless of how synth brags about engine oil life.
Does anybody use stp or zmax. My dad swears by stp and i did just tear down a 1985 chevy 305 with him and the block and heads were very clean. 300,000+ miles and he is the original owner. It has had penzoil the whole time.
