Another thing that should be mentioned is in the V6 the traction control is WAY too aggressive. The first thing I do when I start mine up is turn off the traction control because even at half throttle on dry pavement with no tire slippage at all it will apply the brakes. If the traction control is on you basically have to hit 20MPH before it will give you true full throttle performance.

I took the traction control off, we drove them to the beach and as soon as i tried reversing in one the traction control went ***** nilly. haha. nearly got stuck. Another question, it had a little button on the shifter, it looked like a car going down a hill, is that the O/D button??

That button is the hill control mode, keeps the automatic from hunting gears on a hill.

Rental companies often "de-tune" their cars for lack of a better term... because they know what goes on, and how much people beat on them. Rental cars are almost always "limited" even more so than they are from the factory.

I drove an '05 V6 rental when they first came out and it was nice, coming from a stretch of driving 4 cyls & 6 cyl SUVs, but while waiting for GTs to come in, I test drove a V6 from the dealer and the torque difference was noticeable. I ended up buying it and then another 4.0. Would like to take a A/T 3.7 out for a spin when I pick up my 5.0, just to satisfy my curiosity about the performance difference. Any S197 is a good car though IMHO (well, except a rental). Just depends on what youre looking to get out of it.

I had never heard such a thing until I bought my '11 F150. They told me about it when I took the thing back because of the shifts. New cars are smarter than me these days.
