My car arrived but I didn't buy it.
Since I wanted a convertible for the summer, and in northern Michigan, summer does not last very long, I need to decide to reorder (try for Job 2 production of 2011) or wait six months and get a 2012.
The 2012 seems to make most sense, I just hope they don't decide to shrink the interior compartments again. I really like the bigger cabin. I'm 6'4".

Just walk away. Lots are being filled with 2011 Mustangs, maybe you can find one just like the one you ordered. I wouldn't deal with the dealer you ordered your car from. I'm sure Michigan has a lot of Ford dealers there, right?
Yes, you did the right thing...There is something not quite right with this deal and they really dont want your business.. Who knows maybe those miles were rough and they did something to it... Did ya look underneath to see if maybe they did something else??
I did do a search of the Ford dealers inventories in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. None of them had anything close to what I wanted on their lots.
This was built the same week that some of the scrapped GT/CS's were built. So I do wonder what other little twisties may be in the build that aren't obvious.
I'd say there's some weird stuff going on, over all.
Last week, my dealer invited me to test drive a 2011 GT. On my way, he called to warn me that there had been a problem when the car was shipped and the right side mirror was missing. Sure enough, when I got there, there was a hole where the mirror should have been. "No problem, easy to fix, happens all the time," my dealer assured me.
Well, it had better not happen to my GT!

You did the right thing. I would have done the same
Black GT-Ordered 4/23/Built 5/18/delivered 6/24
Mine had 8km on it. Only thing that was on the windows, in chalk was 5/18 (I assume build date) and the word "ship". Mine did sit on ramp 51 for a month.
800KM and counting. No issues. (okay one-keeping a high gloss Black GT clean) Fit and finish fantastic.
Must have been a bad week at the factory when yours and others were built around that time.

I would have walked too. Your dealer should be protecting you by protecting your car. My car had 13 miles on it and my salesperson told me that people kept asking to sit in it all day when it arrived and he told everybody NO! That's what a good dealer/salesperson looking out for you does.
You did the right thing. No way would've accepted a car with panel fitting issues and other stuff you've mentionned. At least you got your deposit back. Good luck finding another one. They're are other good ones out there.
Sadly, the cavalier attitude about body fit doesn't surprise me. I had issues with an '08 Fusion that it took the body shop foreman exactly 30 seconds to blame on everything being robotic with no adjustments built it. He then told me if I didn't like it I could talk to the GM. When I said I'll run right over there, he had his people pull the car in and magically made the adjustments. Took my new Taurus ('10) in because the hood was out of alignment by probably 1/4" with the pillar on one side and had a good size nick in the paint at the edge of a door (the kind of thing you simply don't see until you get it home and wash it the first time). Different dealer, same story about everything being robotic and why didn't I mention it at delivery two days before. He clearly wasn't interested in fooling with it, but managed to put things right and touch up the door in a matter of 15 minutes. I've done business with both of these dealers in the past and neither one used to be like that. Sigh.
You were right to walk out
You were right to walk out.
Do not spend your money with a dealership that does not value your patronage. The only way we really have to influence that the good dealerships do well and stay in business and the crappy dealerships don't do well and are hopefully run out of business is to not spend our hard earned money at the crappy dealerships, but spend it with the good guys. Ultimately, You get the service you demand.
When I special ordered both of my 2008 Mustangs everything was understood up front. No one was to drive my cars. They were parked in the shop not on the lot or in the show room. They were prepped and washed while I was there. I drove them out of the detail shop and to the gas station with the dealership owners credit card for full tanks of premium fuel. Absolutely no front license plate holes!
The Bullitt had 9.9 miles on it and the GT500 had 3.5 miles on it.

I couldn't have been more satisfied with my dealerships treatment.
BTW they are Colvin Ford in Mcminnville Oregon.
