My '05 is 7 years old ... getting the itch for a '13
Sorry for your loss.
I sold my 05 as part of buying my 2011. Not even close!!! It was a really smart move and I'm glad I did it EVERY DANG DAY! Test drive the heck out of a 2013 and see. I suspect you'll be a little surprised. Oh and the tall skinny pedal to the right is really fun to push on.
Ask him how he feels now.......
And the wait would be another 17 months to find out what the 2015 Mustang will be. It will have an all new chassis, probably all new suspension, new interior, it's a new generation of car rather than just an updated to the existing one.
If I had a GT already paid off and it was in good condition there is no way I would buy a new one without seeing the 2015 first. I would hate to buy a 2013 now and find out 17 months from now that I could have had a much better car if I had waited.

Yes, understand the sentiment but sometimes "good things come to those who wait", especially when you kick yourself when trying to replace a model year car with a slightly newer one. And, of course, folks have to make that evaluation about whether or not it's worth the money.
Buying one of these cars is far more emotional than not...so whatever you got, enjoy it while you got it!
In that situation, I would wait until the 2015MY come out
As far as waiting for the 2015 model year... if I was a betting man, I'd say the '15 would be superior to the current generation. But, there's no guarantee. With fuel at $4/gallon and not looking like it's going down anytime soon, plus new government fuel economy mandates, who knows what the next generation will be? Word on the street is that the next generation of BMW M3 will be a V-6. Can anyone here guarantee the next Mustang GT will still be a 420 hp V-8? Does anyone remember when the FWD Ford Probe almost replaced the Mustang in the late '80s? I'm not suggesting something that drastic would happen.
I'm just grateful that cars like the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger exist in a landscape where most buyers are looking for 30+ mpg. How much longer cars like ours can continue is anyone's guess, but my thought now is to grab one while they still exist.
OTOH, it would be quite painful to buy a 2013 say next Spring, and then a year later the next generation is introduced with a killer body style, more horsepower, and better fuel economy!
I wonder how soon it will be before there is definitive info on the next generation?

I wonder how soon it will be before there is definitive info on the next generation? Now owning the car for 4 weeks, many were surprised, and even snickered..but I can assure you, now that they are seeing it up close, they are all scratching there head.
Whatever the other brands do, as long as ford stays the course with good quality, strong performance, and exceptional pricing with styling, they will be successful. If BMW slams a 6 in the new M ...that will be one major step backwards.
I think the camaro ,stang, and challenger will continue to be successful now, the big 3 finally got some brains and stones again. Les just hope they don't get stupid like they did in th late 70s an throughut the 80s.
