Mustang July 2011 Sales Down

In July 2011 Ford sold 6,805 Mustangs
Chevrolet on the other hand sold 7,671 units of the Camaro

The Mustang and Camaro have really been on a roller coaster ride this year when it comes to monthly sales figures. Last month the Mustang had finally topped the Camaro in monthly sales by just 349 units. Unfortunately this month the tide has turned the other way with 866 more Camaros driving off the lots than Mustangs. In July 2011 Ford sold 6,805 Mustangs, a 9.1 percent decrease over July 2010 where 7,489 Mustangs were sold. Chevrolet on the other hand sold 7,671 units of the Camaro model, a 2.5 percent increase from the same month last year.

Year-to-date sales figures share a similar tale with the Camaro pulling a even larger lead on the Mustang than reported last month. Ford Mustangs sales this year total 45,846 units while Chevy Camaro sales equal 56,432, a difference of 10,586 units. Although we have five months to go it sure looks like the Camaro will again take the overall sales title this year.

Let me get the nonsense out of the way.

That darn rear end is still keeping buyers away.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that mustangs are harder to find and have less rebates. I see 30 camaro's on the lot with 8,000$ of sticker, most lots I'd be shocked if I see 10 mustangs.

Who in the blue bajeebus wants to own a big hulky piece of plastic lookin' government bail-out tank that seems like your lookin' through a peep-hole when yer drivin' and is gonna only be worth about $1700.00 in trade in 5 years because it's a Camaro anyway?

Just curious.

That's an interesting statement. I'm kind of leaning the other way and saying that most of the car world drives automatic. I wonder what the real numbers are?

It was just a joke towards the statement that the mt82 drove down sales.

I also agree. The incentives that are offered are not that great compared to some I've seen for the competitors. Wish they were more competitive with the offers but it's most likely because 2011s are being pushed out along with some leftover 2010s.

And the shocking part is that even with all the crazy offers chevy is giving, the mustang is still keeping very close with very few!

It's a lot easier to give rebates and incentives when you're spending someone else's money.

It's a lot easier to give rebates when you build cheaper cars and price them higher too!

Haha also agreed. Gotta love free money. Just remember, the average consumer doesn't know what they want, the corporations have to battle to tell them what they want and if you offer it cheaper they'll take it. Business 101. LOL

But since I'm different and I wanted a mustang I could say screw that to the competitor a thousand times over. LOL

A local dealer is running an ad - $40k for an 11 GT, $40k for a 10 GT. Maybe that's why...
