I have a somewhat related question. What if I like the stock handle and leather boot? Is there a way to retain the stock **** and boot if u get an aftermarket shifter? I've honestly never been a fan of the cheap looking ball shifter. They really bother me.

All kinds of optional ball type shifter replacements, "T" handles, and so on. They allow you to retain the boot and shifter assembly.

Hurst has even come out with a nice one for the automatics.
