MT82 GETTING BETTER...

I traded in a 2011 (purchased new) BMW 335ix for the Mustang and I've never looked back. Prior to the BMW I owned a Lexus 330ES. Before that, it was a Lexus LS. Since getting behind the wheel of the Mustang, I feel like a young man again (I'll be 65 in January.) Your dad would love it, I'm sure. Keep at it. Take him into a dealership and have him take a test drive, just the two of you. Just for a father-son outing. He might fall in love. Good luck.

1. Overall visual appearance: I give the Mustang a 10 in this area because it not only has beautiful lines, but it has a unique look to it. I don't know how to rate the BMW on this because it looks so much like so many other sedans that are out there today.
2. Interior: I would rate the Mustang higher than the BMW because of the quality of materials used. I'm sure others will argue with this, but I paid an additional $2,000 for leather interior in the BMW. What I received was an interior with very hard, very uncomfortable, and actually kind of cheap looking seats. My wife and I have discussed this, and we both agree that the Mustang rides much more comfortably and is much easier to get in and out of than the BMW was. (We're in our 60s).
3. Performance: Hands down, the Mustang wins this category. Even the V6 has a higher horsepower rating than the 335. The 335 does have the twin scroll turbo feature, which reduces the turbo lag from the previous design, but from a raw power standpoint, there's no comparison.
4. Driving impressions: I'm from the old school muscle car era of the 60s. (Baby Boomer here). I love the feeling of a RWD car. The BMW does feel very solid on the road, but the Mustang has just a bit of that natural, RWD rebel that's inherent with this set up. That said, I don't find the Mustang to have any instability on the road, even at higher speeds.
5: Cost: 2011 BMW 335ix with Leather and Nav Sticker Price: $56,000. 2012 Mustang GT Premium with 401a Sticker Price $36,000.
BOTTOM LINE: For $20K less, I got a car that I absolutely LOVE and look forward to driving at every opportunity. When I park it in a parking lot and walk away, I always look back to admire it. Never did that with the BMW.
This is just my opinion. I'm sure others would prefer the BMW, but for me, the Mustang is a better choice.
