MT-82
Judging by the specs of this transmission:

This might be what the MT-82 is based on. Seems legit to me.

What ever the MT-82 is based on or who builds it for Ford, hope it has good shifting characteristics and is tough enough to handle the hp mods you know will be thrown at the Mustang's 5.0 V8. (<---- it's so nice to be able to say that again!)

Nah, I just figured that with the increase in power that Ford would want to take extra caution to prevent failures, etc. The TR6060 is rated at 600ft-lbs after all. But you are right about the 3650, we've all seen that tranny handle some big power output no problem.

That's why it's in the C6, Z06, ZR1, SS, Challenger, GT500, etc, cuz it's "great for trucks". Ever check the weight of a Z06 with its truck transmission?

If it isn't double overdrive, there won't be much, if any, increase in mpg hwy(but I guess it would help city). I'm very sure you know alot more about this trans than I do, (i know the name and it has 6 gears) but why wouldn't they take advantage of dual od? That might exlain why we are hearing 25mpg and not higher.

And the TR-6060 isn't? Triple cone synchros on 1-4 gears with dual cones on the 5-6 gears, I gotta say the TR-6060 is probably the nicest Tremec on the market.

OK, so for the 2011 V6, fifth will be 1:1 and only 6th will be overdrive. Does the GT automatically get the same gear ratios as the V6 or do you think they will be different? With the V6 I can see not wanting too deep an overdrive so that you still have some passing power without downshifting. But with the torque of the Coyote, I would think they would make both 5th and 6th overdrive, unless it's impractical to have different gearing for the V6 and the GT.

You just described the current TR6060 in the GT500. Try one sometime. Best transmission and stock shifter ever put in a Mustang. 1st Mustang I have ever owned where the stock shifter will stay.
