I e-mailed Motorweek and asked about this. We'll see if they answer.

Maybe they meant 124" @ 12.4mph for the 1/4 mile

124 MPH - funny.

I'm betting they use a gtech pro for 1/4 times.

Their performance numbers:

12.4 @ 124 1/4 mile, absolutely screaming on the top end!

Pretty good review and better than Motorweek's usual 1/4 mile reports.

Why would they do that when they have a drag strip with timers at their disposal???

Smile 124 mph trap speed

Hi guys I just want to tell a story about an experience I had in my 2012 boss. I took it to the drags for the first time last night and after several runs I was able to get 12.888 at 111 mph. All my other runs were in the low 13s and my speed was pretty consistent, 109 to 111. I had a guy next to me in a Honda when I ran the 12...I pulled away off the line and was smoking him past the 1/8 and then... right at the very end of the 1/4 he caught me and crossed the line at 124 mph. Our times were really close, he was 12.686. I think maybe he had nos? Not sure but I agree 124 is flat out crazy. That had to have been a typo. Anyone know of some good light rims to buy for racing? Thanks #774 KB.

Okay all, I e-mailed Motorweek and asked about their reported trap speed for their test and here is what the host, John Davis, wrote me back:

First reply.

On 9/12/11 10:20 AM, "John Davis" <jdavis@mail.mpt.org> wrote:

And the second follow up e-mail reply,

Curtis,
We have checked on the numbers from our test session and what others got for the same car and we must conclude our test computer malfunctioned. The time looks right but speed is high. My guess it is closer to 114-116 mpg. No way of knowing exactly. Thanks for catching this and we'll make corrections but unfortunately we cannot pull the show back.
Very best regards,
John Davis

So, some sort of glitch apparently in their timing equipment.

Click on the link for the test, they already changed it to read 12.4 @ 114mph.
I thought there had to be an error.

This race seems to dictate that the mph is just a simply typo. Motor Trend ran a simple drag race and achieved 12.4@115 in the Laguna Seca.

At our 75-80 home track, the BOSS quickly went to work with a 4.4-second trip to 60. That’s 3-tenths faster than the last Mustang GT we tested. It was all business as usual down the quarter mile, as well, tripping the clock at 12.4-seconds at 114 miles-per-hour from the written review

That's after they edited it, after I e-mailed them about the mistake.
