Track vids, oil separators, oil analysis....is there anything you don't study for the greater good? Another must-subscribe thread from dmichaels.

I'm just coming up on 3000 kms (1800 miles) on the original oil and am debating when to change, but wanting to do it sometime very soon. I haven't been a fan of M1 for a few years now...mostly because my turbo Subaru's drank the stuff, but didn't burn a drop on other brands.

I'm almost 2500. I want to change it, but I'm debating if I want to do it myself or take to the dealer. I don't want any techs touching my car, but 9 (8.5) quarts of 5W50 is gonna hurt the wallet if I do myself!

How is Ford and warranty with DIY oil changes?

In almost all cases on the street there isn't enough room to heat the 5w-50 oil for its intended purpose.
This! Thank you!

Just save receipts. If you like you can keep a record on the Ford owners site too.

Thx for the compliment - I like collecting data and sharing...

Exactly why I will only use 5w50

Also completely agree for the street driving, there really is no need for a 50 weight oil

I did on my 4.6L3V. First test was at 26k. All on Motorcraft synthblend 5w-20 & FL-820s filters. Excellent results. I'm 100% confident on Ford's recommendation in the Owners Manual (as I have been for 30 years on a variety of Ford engines with hundereds of thousands of failure free miles).
I couldn't post the pdf but here's the summary:

This topic is pretty subjective as everyone is able to drive their car in different manners. I'm fortunate to drive my Track Pack in a manner in which it was built for. I don't use the MC oil in 50 because I didn't like the way my car ran, the oil consumption I experienced, the availability of the oil here in Germany, and the cost.

I switched to RP 5W-40 HPS and couldn't be happier. Everything listed above has been voided by the switch. But it's my car, my driving style, and my money.
