I wonder what "on hold" really means, it could just mean it's been pushed back slightly. To me, it makes sense to concentrate on the FWD/AWD EcoBoosts first, and then get into RWD when the F-100 and Mustang setup can be designed at the same time.

Makes sense for now.

With the Base/GT/Cobra already having their respective engines....
If the 3.5TT is infact more expensive than the V8 5.0...
No reason at this time, to have it in the lineup.

Let the other cars have it first.

I saw a BMW 135 on the freeway yesterday! WOW! Let me tell you, the 135TT Coupe looks alot better in person than in pictures. I didn't know it looked so muscular in person. It actually has hips and a very aggressive stance to it..

I'm not at all threatened by Ford playing games on this issue. There are other options out there which appeal to me, that can be had for a very reasonable price. Currently, after seeing one on the road yesterday, I have opted out of the 335 in favor of the 135i..

This car is awesome! Check it out!

Again, let me state for the record that Ford's intimidation in regards to the 3.5LTT Mustang does not threaten me. Its highly likely that it would be priced above $34900. It would also garner ridiculous mark-ups as most greedy American car dealerships lust for anyway. While the Germans sell their cars at MSRP or possibly a few bucks less.

So for me personally, there are options in which to choose from.

Well in regards to the 135i, don't take it with a grain of salt. I have already test driven a 335i and was very impressed with the car. They were willing to let it go for $41K plus tax and license. Thats slightly under MSRP without much of a fight. I wanted $41K and they would not do it, until after I left the dealership. They called me the next day and agreed to my terms of $41K.. With the 135i having an MSRP of $34900, I don't see a problem of getting one for $34K. That saves me a total of $7K on the previous deal. I would get a slightly smaller car, which is lighter with the same engine.. LOL!!

I am a Ford guy, but there comes a point when Ford must be penalized for delays and playing games. Also for forcing their customers through the dealerships to pay high mark ups. Either give the people what they want at a reasonable price, or they will find it elsewhere. Stop beating around the bush, and promising us things all the way out until 2010! Who the heck wants to wait until 2010?

I'm still on the team, but my patience is running thin.

Hey WaltM, do me a favor.. Go test drive a 335i or 135i and come back here and give us your report.

The cars are insane.. If anyone here doubts what I am saying about the cars, a test drive is free..

Don't worry, I believe you.

I think that periodicals like MT and C&D aren't always giving accurate information about manufacturers plans; like the Mustang not having Ecoboost; this may or may not be true. I also think that they're fed information from manufacturers to print. This can be good or bad depending upon what the source reveals.

I can understand not wanting to wait until the early CY2010, but the reality is that Ford hasn't promised us anything before before the 400+hp V8 scheduled to appear then, and in truth they haven't even promised us that...we just know from other sources that this is the one engine certain to come to the Mustang. Ford has been amazingly tight-lipped on Ecoboost for rwd models not even giving us decent hints as to when we can expect the same.

As for the 335i, given the demand for that car the deal offered seems pretty good. As for the 135i, while I find it to be an intriguing piece sales of that car have, thus far, been less than stellar so a good deal might be even easier to negotiate. The problem seems to be that most folks don't find the savings to be large enough to make stepping down from the 3 Series worthwhile.

While I agree with the sentiment that the 135 is priced a bit optimistically, over time I think the car will gradually catch on, it is truly the modern day BMW 2002 posting impressive numbers. Still, I think Edmund's comment that the car offers all the comfort of the 3 Series is possibly crack induced. The 3 Series is notably roomier and rides noticeably better, particularly over rough surfaces. If those things don't matter to you, the 1 Series is a compelling alternative.

DBK mentions on svtperformance....

SVT has two significant current projects. A 340hp Fusion is not one of them

My biggest concern as of right now is, how long does "on hold" mean?

Wasn't one rumour a while back another F150 but not the Raptor? nor a new lightning.
(MTLikely the new Harley?)

I would think its the new GT500 as well.

If the engines are carryover for 2010, i.e. 300 HP V-8, it kind of makes sense to wait so the 340 HP TT-6 doesn't overshadowed the V-8. Maybe in 2011 we'll have a 265 V-6, a 340 HP TT-6, and a 400 HP V-8.

See that's the point.
If the 400hp V8 5.0L costs less to build than a 340hp TT v6...
no real added value of having it in the lineup. (other than a possibly fuel economy...but we don't know those numbers on either engine)
