Misfire?

So I start my 11 gt New Year's Eve, and it starts fine, no issues. As I'm letting it warm up all the sudden the wrench light comes on and the car starts shaking real bad. I turn it off pop the hood and everything looks ok, check all the fluids...it's all there. I start it up again, and now it runs fine, and no more cel. Is it ok to be driving it? I've noticed recently it's been making more noise than usual, like one of the belts are going bad, but other than that, no other than that recent issues

Idle misfires could cause that - did you pull the codes? If the PCM is anything like the ECU on my Audi that I used to work with, it should be capable of capturing which cylinder is misfiring and how many misfires occurred. The cause of a misfire is more difficult to diagnose...

No, I drove the car straight to the dealership, and they were only doing oil changes...speaking of which, I need to find a new shop

I'd suggest looking at a OBDII interface - Gopoint has a great one that works with the iphone called the BT1. It will read and clear codes, and also allow monitoring of engine parameters.

In the meantime, see if Autozone or Pepboys or something will pull the code for free. Even if the CEL is off, the codes should be stored.

Did you mention this to your dealer, Mustang30? Did they try to do a diagnosis during your visit?

Hope you get it resolved. I'd offer to pull codes if you were closer... owning an Audi I had lots of practice diagnosing CEL's

Good luck!

Thanks, I'm not even sure it's worth the time to have a dealership look at it, I have the feeling it will be four hours for "nothing's wrong with it, have a nice day, want to buy a new car?" And then two weeks of courtesy calls and surveys

Turns out there was a coolant leak, software update for the misfire, and needs a new throttle body... Didn't see that one

Mine has misfired several times and they had to change some sensor cannot remember which one, but I would get the engine light not the wrench.
