I've always thought the HVAC and radio controls were a little outdated looking in my 2014 GT. From my research, there are no other options available for a 2014 Mustang either.
I know this isn't what you asked. . . . but personally I HATE the touch-screen HVAC controls. Why would I want to have to focus on a menu and figure out how to get to the right screen to turn the heat on, when I can do it with the good old fashioned buttons in an instant without hardly looking?
I guess it is worse in a car that you are not used to, like a rental where I usually get to "test" the new systems, but every time I go back to an older car with the simple ***** and levers, I say "ahhhh, that is so much easier!"
I wonder how may accidents are caused by distracted drivers trying to figure hot how to adjust their heat on these new and "improved" systems?
I think Bert has it right. IMO there is a difference between "High Tech" and "Why Tech". I am not opposed to change when it clearly works better than what was done before, but not every change is better.
I put one in my wife's 2016. The install was horrendous for me thanks to the teribbly hard to read and comprehend instructions. After spending all day trying to get the wiring right (I doubt the s197 has as many harnesses as the s550), my head unit didnt fit the opening, so I had to take a dremel to it. Definitely didnt do as good of a job as I could have if I wasnt so frustrated and mentally exhausted.
I'm not a huge fan of the HVAC controls, but they arent terrible
I have the same setup but can’t see a button for turning on the heat in the winter; I see the ac and max buttons which are great in the summer but where is the heat button?? When I I click those buttons, it’s the fan.... no heat
