I'm still not getting the comments about the 2010 looking Japanese. To me, the '99-'04 rear end treatment looks WAY more "Japanese" than the 2010.

I've been saying the same thing all along, but some of these guys don't want to hear that! LOL.

My coworker looked over my shoulder at a picture I was viewing of the 2010 Stang and he asked me if it was the new Nissan Altima. I said, "no, it's the 2010 Mustang!" and he told me it looked like a Japanese car from the back.

Asian or maybe European, but it doesn't have the traditional look of a domestic muscle car, IMO. Don't worry too much though, we'll probably get used to it.

we all got to realize we are heading into the future. which means many new ideas and styles. This car has mustang written all over it. I have no idea how people could think this has asain, european or japanese styling. what the heck gives it japanese, asain or european features?!?!?!? NOTHING!

everybody is forgetting all the styling cues of the past this car has

Like stangfoeva said, why start a thread like this??

You guys are right. I feel this is more a late 70's disco car. I think they should remove the fake gas gap and put a disco ball.

The unfortunate thing is that with all the genuine Mustang styling cues, and the fact that the new car looks AS A WHOLE unabashedly "Mustang," some people see nothing but the awkward shape of the taillights and have decided that one detail somehow defines the design and dismisses the entire car.

It's a "can't see the forest for the trees" thing. Or something. Why am I still posting in this thread?

People are getting what they wanted. The didnt want such a square looking rear end so ford rounded it off and added more styling. I guess you just cant please some people. I for one think the rear goes well with this car.

People have asked ford to change things with this car but yet people cant accept the change. Dont ask for things to be changed if your just going to bash it.

i agree the rear end goes well with the overall design of the car that is not to say it goes well to the viewer of the car, yes the theme is consistent. but something went wrong with that rear end, and the rear end of a car is a huge part of the whole car... well .. it's the whole back of the car isnt it.. thats pretty big.

Well, I like it. And I reckon, out in the open, away from the bright lights of the motor show, it'll look even better.

And, once people start modding them, they'll look even better still. The standard '05-'09s look pretty plane Jane to me, but once lowered, on bigger rims, add some stripes and hey presto......attitude.

Lets not compare this rear with any asian, euro or japanese car. They could have done a better job designing this rear. They should have called they guy who designed the Challenger rear because that is hot!

It's just too bottom-heavy out back. I'm sure most of that has to do with safety standards, but it just looks.... like there's "junk in the trunk". I mean who doesn't like "Fat Bottomed Girls"? There's a Sir Mix-A-Lot in everyone...

As I've Posted for the Umpteenth Time...The ONLY "Jap" Car that the 2010 or Any Other Mustang Even Slightly Resembles is the Early 70's Cellica!

And that is Simply Because Those Same Cellica's were Blatant Rip Off of the 69/70 Mustangs. So They Look Like MUSTANGS!
