It appears as though Magnacharger has a supercharger kit in the works for the 2011+ 5.0L. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that their kit features Eaton's TVS 1900 or 2300 rotor package.

I have to agree about the belt. Doesn't look like it would work very well to me

 

Not sure about the jackshaft going through the intake like that.

 

Not really a jackshaft, it is the direct drive shaft. A number of them like this, edelbrock, SMS, and a few of the other magnachargers.

I'd just be more worried about the belt routing and belt slip at high rpm.

Oops, you're right about the jackshaft.

On the other hand, are you saying that the Edelbrock and SMS units are employing direct driveshafts or that they have the driveshaft routed through the air intake path?

 

The edelbrock and SMS for the 4.6 have the driven shaft passing through the inlet very similarly to this new Magnacharger.

 

crappy design and looks, magnacharger doesn't have a great rep for their superchargers, who was the genius that decided to throw a shaft into the air intake path?

Magnacharger actually has a good reputation on their superchargers, parent company Magnuson is the only Eaton authorized supplier of aftermarket units. Where their rep takes any hits is in power production because they are very conservative in their setups, for example, the blower here in question is the TVS 1900 instead of using a 2300 like the other players do.

And I understand the front inlet and shaft passing through it, makes for the shortest inlet and lets it fit to the OEM airbox and MAF. Again, they are being conservative.

But, as I stated, I don't like it much myself, more for the belt routing though.

That setup looks worse than it really is. From a belt wrap standpoint it looks to be great. Its just ugly from a looks standpoint.

 

I'm a function over form kind of guy, so the looks don't really bother me. It is "unique", I'll give it that.
