leather seat conditioner
I was wondering what people use to keep their leather seats soft and clean. I have ben using griots leather care lotion. it does not remove the dye and keeps the seats soft. just my opinion. I have saddle leather seats in my 2014 deep impact blue v6 premium mustang.

I use Leather Masters Rapid S cleaner with a horse hair brush on the front seating surfaces. Great cleaner and gentle. 1Z deep plastic cleaner with a damp microfiber towel on the rest of the front seats and back seat. Follow up the cleaning with Optimum leather protectant on all surfaces. Leaves the seats clean and protected with a nice matte look.

One thing to realize is that the leather in our Mustangs, and almost every brand of automobile, is "finished" leather. A quick google search will uncover the difference between "finished" and "unfinished" leather. The important thing to know that any cleaners/conditioners/etc. that claim to revitalize, moisturize, or clean the leather by penetrating the pores of the leather will not work on finished leather. Check it out yourself. Put a drop of water on your leather seat. Doesn't soak in does it? Neither do any of those cleaners/conditioners/ moisturizers. It is impossible to clean/condition/moisturize the actual leather of "finished" leather. You can only effect the surface. I do use Lexol leather cleaner because it does no harm, and does do a good job of cleaning the surface of the leather. To protect the leather I use 303 Aerospace. I have used it for years and have never had the leather in any of my cars crack or fade. Another thing to remember is that a large portion of our seats is vinyl and 303 works great on that and plastic also. I use it on all the leather, vinyl, and plastic surfaces on my cars. It never is oily or sticky if used correctly. It is also great for protecting your black exterior weather stripping etc.

Same place sells leather conditioner made by the same company, imported from the UK.

I have the 401a package with brick red cashmere leather. I dont use anything on it. Down the road ill have it done by a specialist... All these over the counter products seem to do more harm than good. Those conditioners are designed to moisten the leather and clean it, but are also designed to be used over and over so you keep buying. Its not good for your seats in the long haul.

Before I bought my new GT/CS I came across a highly recommended detailer and I telephoned him and he gave me a complete step-by-step plan. For the leather and interior plastics he said to go with Poorboy's World Natural Look Dressing. I've been very pleased with it so far. Looks great, smells great, and applies easily.

Great post Dave. After my current supply of Megs leather stuff I believe I will stop using leather cleaners and moisteners. What Dave stated is true and even our resident detailer Marc stated just use mild soap and water to clean your leather. I will try and find his post related to this.

Cleaners and conditioners are a waste of money. I wipe the leather down with a damp micro fiber cloth when I wash the car. The leather on my wife's 2010 looked like new when we traded in the car last week.

I have heard good things about Zaino, Z-10:
http://www.zainostore.com/product/Z-10.html
It has real leather oil in it so it is leather scented... Your car is supposed to smell like brand new leather after you use it. I was going to get some for my 06', but never got around to it before trading it in on my 13' which has cloth..

As per your owner's manual 3rd printing:
CLEANING LEATHER SEATS (IF EQUIPPED)
• Remove dust and loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner.
• Clean spills and stains as quickly as possible.
• For routine cleaning, wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. For
more thorough cleaning, wipe the surface with a mild soap and water
solution. In Canada, use Motorcraft® Vinyl Cleaner. Dry the area with
a soft cloth.
• If the leather cannot be completely cleaned using a mild soap and
water solution, the leather may be cleaned using a commercially
available leather cleaning product designed for automotive interiors.
• To check for compatibility, first test any cleaner or stain remover on
an inconspicuous part of the leather.
• Do not use household cleaning products, alcohol solutions, solvents or
cleaners intended for rubber, vinyl and plastics or petroleum-based
leather conditioners. These products may cause premature wearing or
damage to the leather.
