Lava with the Brembo package wheels is understated, subtle and cool... the stripe is interesting but I don't think it adds that much. I could take it or leave it.

Just my $.02.

Thanks for sharing the pics though. Its a variant that I doubt anybody has seen yet.

Why is it that it seems like nobody has really good pictures of this color yet.

All of them are either blurry, with a cell phone, indoors, etc.

Somebody needs to get this color outdoors, with a decent camera and take some awesome pics!

Hmmm looks good. BTW the stripe looks rose colored which I think would look real good and or pewter. My .02 cents.

I'd dark silver stripe it, esp. with the Brembos. IMO the Lava Red is just a shade or two too conservative, I never see it pop, even in the sunlight shots. Not bad lookin though

Not a fan of the flat black stripe.

What I think would work great with the Lava Red is a red Ghost Flame job. I think that would be outrageous.

Some variation of this, except maybe even more subtle:

I had a '69 Camaro that was a brandy wine color. It had the ghost flames and looked sick.
Would love to see those on the Lava Mustang.

I intend to do this 10000% when I get my car. Finding Lava cars that LOOK like Lava online is impossible. The color is amazing in person but either looks brown or purple in the pics. I've seen some that come close but I'm going all the way.

A friend of a friend is a professional photographer who specializes in cars. I am buying him a 12 pack to just snap some photos for me... but he only gets to drink them after he's taken the pics.

I washed, waxed and shot it in bright sun with my Nikon D90 and my best lens and it barely looked red. I think I need to a) shoot in the late morning so the sun hits it better and b) push the red a bit in photoshop if I have to. But a raw outside shot is not simple. I think.

I was all about Lava when I saw it on the F150, but on the Mustang it just doesn't pop enough for me. Even in person. 90% of the time it just looks black. I've seen it in bright light, overcast, night time. It always looks black unless the sun hits it JUST right and you see the metallic. Tuxedo Black is more apparent than Lava. Two shades lighter and it would be PERFECT. And it would match the Lava Red interior better....

I am not sure what your weather has been there, but that is just not the case. I have a lava red Mustang, and can say that it always does pop in the sun. I have also seen a lava red F-150 in person. It just looks better on the mustang. The only way that it would look black 90% of the time in person is if you only saw it in the sun 10% of the time. As soon as it gets in the sun, the red flakes just shine. If it were any lighter, it would lose its elegance. Lava is a great color for AZ. If you live under constantly cloudy or mostly/partly cloudy skies, then the car might not look as good. For those of use that have the sun shine a decent amount of the time, it is an amazing color. No offense, but you are completely wrong about the color. Come to AZ, if you really want to see Lava red.

Amen to that. I am in Florida so I definitely agree with the sunshine aspect! I can't wait to show this color off!

Think it's a hard color to capture in pics... Have seen one in person, and it looks different...

The stripes don't do much for me, but that's really a personal choice... If I was going to do stripes, they'd be gloss, and ghost red ala Chip Foose's Chevelle (?) rebuild on "Overhaulin", or like the M/C fuel tank above... that would look great, and one of a kind.
