Laid hands on a 5.0 and a 3.7 car today...
This may be of no interest to most, just some observations by me.
Had to go to town today on an errand and it happened to be just down the street from the closest Ford dealer so I stopped to look. Haven't been down close to there since they had any 2011's on the lot. Since it was Sunday they were closed but I found about 4 or 5 cars that were open so I could get inside and under the hood.
I re-affirmed that Kona Blue is the color for me, it looks so good in the sun. I also decided again that I like the cloth seats, especially in the hot sun. Liked to burn my buns off when I plopped down in the premium cars leather seat and while the cloth seat in the base car was warm in the sun it was nowhere near as hot as the leather.
Looking at the 5.0 engine bay reminds me of the wall to wall completely full look of the engine bay on 03-04 Cobra's, hardly any room to spare. Looking at the engine bay on the 3.7, it has so much room to work around the engine, way more room than my '04 V6, difference between a 90* V6 and a 60* V6. Only thing that looks to be a pain would be changing the plugs on the right bank, you would have to pull the upper intake plenum to get to them. Looks like headers would be a breeze to install on the V6, looks like you could drop long tubes in from the top.
I'm looking forward to getting to see a V6PP car and to get a chance to test drive one, maybe they will get one in soon.

No pics, wasn't really even planning on going to the dealer today, just stopped as I passed by.
The premium I burned my buns in was a silver GT with charcoal interior.
They had a black brembo GT and a white GT and most of the rest were automatic V6's except for the one lone black manual tranny V6.
I like all the gadgets you get on a premium, just not much of a fan of the leather, I like the cloth.
If money was no object I would probably go ahead and get the premium just for the extra electronics but as it stands, a base car with the performance package and security is my target.
But I am really just driving myself crazy wanting one without being able to pull the trigger due to some unresolved litigation issues going on right now. My current fixed income won't let me finance one but if I can get back to a regular job then maybe I will be able to trade my '04 off on one before too long.

If you would be happy with the base Mustang, thats great!!! I didn't ever see a base model until a few weeks ago. I didn't know there was so much difference between the base and premium models.

I do like the cloth seats, plenty comfortable and easier to live with in my opinion.
The elctronics are nice, having SYNC for my cell phone would be great, as far as the better shaker 500 radio, I'm not that big on the radio, I probably listen to the radio in my '04 about only 20% of the time.
Like I said before, if money were not any kind of problem then I would get the premium just for the toys but money is a problem for me so saving $2900 by getting a base car is the way to go.

Something else that I noticed the other day and have seen it before that I wonder about, on V6 cars the mufflers and tips are different between automatic cars and manuals.
Automatic cars have mufflers with tips that are shorter and have the smaller inner pipe showing in the middle that runs back up to the muffler, manual tranny cars have tips that go all the way back to the muffler like GT mufflers and no inner pipe. If nothing else, the auto tranny mufflers look squirrely and not well thought out.
Anybody have any ideas why? Just for a different sound?

That is interesting. I think it is for sound because I read somewhere that the auto mufflers for the 05-09 GTs are quieter than the ones for the manuals. It might be the same for the '11s.

Most cars around here are auto so that's probably what I was seeing. The description of the Pony package says it comes with "unique" tips, so I guess that's what I thought they were.

I believe Doug was the first one to point it out. If not, he did figure out that the auto cars had different mufflers (just like 05-09 GTs). Either way the V6 mufflers are HUGE compared to the GT mufflers. Obviously Ford didn't want the V6s to have more bark than the (already too quiet) GT.

Yep, Doug figured this out. V-6 automatic's have the strange tips and the manual's don't. One factory muffler weighs (a guess) as much as both of my Magnaflows.
