Knocking or ticking sound
I have a 2011 Mustang Gt with 144,000 miles and my car has developed a knock or ticking that sounds like it at the back of the engine or transmission. When I am in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 at round 1500 to 2000 rpm’s on normal acceleration you don’t hear it after 2000 rpm’s you start to hear a ticking sound that gets louder as you accelerate but goes away when you let off the gas.. what is very strange is in 6th gear there is no ticking sound at all at any rpm.. the car still has power. When I stop the car after driving I hear a knocking sound at idle, but when you cold start it and let it idle until it get warm the is no noise.. If I don’t drive the car there is no noise sitting at idle with the engine warm, but if I do drive the car it get that knock or ticking sound at idle.. Does anyone know what is causing this??

I think I would Try a Bottle of Injector Cleaner and See if it Helps! Cheap Easy Test!
Also Thought of Throw Out Bearing Which was the Issue in Topic Below.

Knowing your car has 144k miles.. It could very well be your fuel injectors may require replacement sometime in the near future or it might be your cam phasers? I would suggest starting out by connecting a hand-held code reader/scanning device... If any trouble codes show up? you can look them up online to determine if their related to your knocking/pinging issues... Meanwhile, best of luck and welcome aboard...

just checking the basics (because I am out of my depth on the deeper technical topics): has the oil been changed recently and is it filled up to where it should be?
