Absolutely, a little curb rash like that is something that a wheel repair shop deals with all the time.

 

Hi, I've had curb rash on wheels I've owned in the past and have had them repaired by a wheel repair place and they come out great. They usually charge between $65-$100 per wheel depending on the damage. Nice car, and good luck with that.

 

Thanks everyone. I will be calling around tomorrow to shops to see what they say. I'm hoping it can be fixed because Ford is really proud of those wheels and charge you according to that pride.

after seeing those small damage sections I think repair might be the best option not replacement. save you a TON of money

 

That's not THAT bad. I'd just repair it. Any good shop can have it done.

Plus, dear lord, clean those tires!! They're supposed to be black!
Spray some of this stuff on them, Westley's Bleche-Wite. You can pick it up at just about any auto store for like $3 http://www.westleys.com/.

Spray it on, scrub the tire with a plastic brisstle brush or rag even, and hose it off... they come out black.

 

Don't sweat it... my wife curb rashed the hell out of one of my Ford GT rims (they go for about 900 a piece) and no I wasn't happy, but as the saying goes S*&^ happens.

I got mine repaired and there is a slight difference in color but it took two days for me to notice and even then you can only tell if you basically stare at the wheels side by side under the right lighting.

 

That is some major curb rash. And dang, those wheels and tires are DIRTY

 

If I keep the wheels dirty right now than the damage isn't as obvious. She'll get her weekly bath this weekend so she'll be all shiny and pretty for Monday. Of course, the hubby might put me on Mustang restriction....

OK, not so funny I'll bet. Seriously, that looks like an EASY repair job for the right people.

 

The Bridgstones on our BMW have that lip on the outside to protect the rim a little bit from curb rash. I'm pretty sure this doesn't apply to only the run flat tires either. I have seen others like this. May invest in something like it down the road too. When you get some pics of the repaired wheel if you go that route, lets see the job done then.

 

If you look at the pics from the OP of the damaged rim you will see that the tires have that rubber ridge that you speak of.

Those rim protector ridges are okay but they only protect from very soft contact, get it against a curb and you will be SOL, rim protector or not.

 

I thought it did, but it just doesn't seem very pronounced. The Bridgestones are no joke. Either way, you're right, it is still just a soft bumper, not a save all.

Alloyed Wheel Repair is coming out to the house on Friday and can hopefully fix it up to look almost new.

 

Uh, I'm near the Gulf Coast.

South of Ocala, north of Tampa, in between Leesburg & Crystal River, in a small retirement village called Inverness. Nobody else lives here except a few people with blue hair, wheelchairs and handicapped parking permits.

I'm a minimum of 50 miles in any direction from anyplace exciting. On weekends, it's more like 100 miles tho.
