Just made myself sick

I am so mad, angry and disgusted with myself!! Every since we got the '10 Shelby GT500 I've always been real careful about where I've parked it - always away from everyone, don't pull up too close to bumper blocks, etc. So what did I do yesterday morning? I turned too close to a raised sidewalk and scratched my right front wheel up to heck and back. So now I'm on the hunt for a new/used stock wheel because the prices for the new, from the dealership, ones hurt. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

And of course the hubby wasn't too thrilled with me when he saw it.

Are there any little upgrades (besides a new wheel) that I could get for the car to lessen the wheel pain on the hubby? TIA

Why not get the wheel fixed? Lots of wheel repair and refurbishing shops around and they will make it look like new again.

Welcome to the site! Is this the wheel you have?

Maybe you could work a deal just for one? Don't know...

I hadn't thought of that. Hopefully in my small part of FL I can find a place to do it. Time to get on the phone... who needs to get work done today anyway? Thanks.

Just my luck, those are 18" and I need a 19" one. Thanks for looking though.

Sorry to hear. Getting it repair will probably be more cost efficient. those 19"s are pricey!

I can get a good deal on a new one if you decide to replace it.

Ummmm.... yes, I'd be interested. Knowing the hubby, just repairing it won't suffice. And if there is any possible way that we'd still be able to see the damage I will never hear the end of it.

Not sure if I can receive PMs yet or not but I would like to hear more.

Would you post a picture of the damage? It is amazing what someone who is expert at it can do.

PS - I had curb rash on one my 19" wheels and went the repair route ($85). The shop here locally did GREAT work and the paint finish matches without issue.

I've seen wheel repairs done to wheels that were crunched in and cracked that after the repair you couldn't tell it from new.

Why can't you post a pic?

Maybe you aren't doing it correctly?

Ok, here are two pictures that I just took. I can get better ones during the day tomorrow but it only makes the damage look worse in good light.

A repair place will be able to fix that no problem.

As bad as it may feel, it's just a wheel. It's a part that can be easily replaced and/or repaired. Many replacements (new or used) can be had. You don't have to blend or match colours like with a paint repair. Yes it's money, but it can be made 100% better without compromising on quality. Take a few steps back, breathe, try to relax.

I've been having my car keyed, and then shortly after I clocked the curb pretty much the same way. I will get the wheel fixed soon, but my budget was taken up paying for the paint.
