Admittedly, I said I could be out of touch. Still, $1200 for stripes? Regardless of paint composition changes, the actual labor hours can't be different. The amount of pain is minimal, even if the cost is tripled. And even if I didn't want to go "cheap", $1200 just seems too high. Let's say it takes a day to put some stripes on. That's $150/hour. I'm in the wrong business.

Of course my dealer is also selling paint sealant and fabric protection on a new Raptor for $1995 so what do I know... it's worth whatever someone will pay and it seems like there's no shortage of people with more money than brains.

It absolutely is not worth that much. It pisses me off. But if the quarter cup's worth of paint needed and 3 hours of labor totaled $400 I can see how $1200 would be reasonable for working with the stripes and clear coat from bumper to bumper. Hippies making us all pay...haha

I'll do it for $300. I don't know what I'm doing, but it's not my car,either.

You get what you pay for.

It ain't freakin' rocket science. . . granted, I'm NOT a paint/body guy but I've been around it enough. I'd welcome an explanation for $1200 stripes.

And as much as I'd like to hire you, I'm closer to rocket scientist than stripe painter and I'm pretty sure you're not the guy to do it.

- 19" Bright Machined Aluminum Wheels
- Comfort Package

Haven't drove it too far, just from the dealer to home, but so far I'm really impressed. I'm glad I waited for the 11' instead of jumping at the 10'. It feels a lot faster and seems to have power through out all gears. I don't seem to have to push it as much to get power to the ground. I was going to order one with the 3.73's, but figured I could switch them one day if I ever felt I needed them. Most likely, my car will never see the drag strip except for being a spectator, so at this time, I don't see the point.

Anyway, I can't wait to drive it again; I keep asking my wife is there anything she needs at Walmart so I can go for a drive....ha-ha. I'll post some picks as soon as I get a chance.
Congrats...can't wait to join the club

Here is an update with tint and the GT500 spoiler.

I may get 3.37 gears installed this Friday, but I'm still debating. Price would be $620 including the FRPP gears.

$620 is high, is that at the dealer?

Dealer is expensive, and will they make the computer adjustment for the gear too?

No, the dealer quoted me $700-$800 just for labor, not including parts. The quote I have is from Horsepower Solutions in Hampton, VA. They seem a little high, but a somewhat reputable company. They had several Vette's, a Charger SRT-8 w/Procharger, Supra TT, and two Cobra's in their garage. The breakdown of fees is as follows:

$375.00 - Install Fee
$169.95 - FRPP 3.73 gears
$15.15 - Amsoil 75w/140 Synthetic Gear Lube
$7.70 - Amsoil Slip-Lock Differential Additive (4oz) bottle
$609.26 - Total (Speedo adjustment included)

$199.00 - FRPP Rear Diff Cover (Optional)

Are these prices way over what it should cost?

Gear install here in Houston can be had for $250 plus parts.

What will you be doing for the computer?

It will need a re-flash or a speedo recal unit. Ford racing has the recal unit for about $140.

Ha you think that's high, my dealer quoted $1200 to have gears installed. Needless to say I left that dealer and simply bought a 2010 with the gears factory installed. Too bad I didn't have it 3 weeks before some decided my mustang didn't belong on the same road as them.

Yeah the dealer quoted me one price over the phone and then something else in person. I really would like to test drive an 11' w/ the 3.73's to see if it's even worth changing.

You'll love this...2 years ago when I bought my '08 new the dealer had some guys they recommended for custom work. They quoted me $1800 for two over the top stripes.

Beautiful car! I really like the GT500 spoiler. You really should drive one with 3.73 gears before you spend the cash. If you're not going to race it, they'll only kill your gas mileage.

Yeah, I really would like too. The only thing that pushes me to do it is, I remember when I test drove the 10' GT w/3.31 and then one with 3.73 gears, there was a big difference. The 3.31 felt a little sluggish, not that mine does, but if it is the same difference in the 11's it'd be worth it.
