Thumbs up Just bought!

I am so excited, I feel like a teenager who just got his first car. I just bought an 11' GT w/ 6spd and the following options:

- Race Red
- 401A (Charcoal w/Cashmere)
- 19" Bright Machined Aluminum Wheels
- Comfort Package

Haven't drove it too far, just from the dealer to home, but so far I'm really impressed. I'm glad I waited for the 11' instead of jumping at the 10'. It feels a lot faster and seems to have power through out all gears. I don't seem to have to push it as much to get power to the ground. I was going to order one with the 3.73's, but figured I could switch them one day if I ever felt I needed them. Most likely, my car will never see the drag strip except for being a spectator, so at this time, I don't see the point.

Anyway, I can't wait to drive it again; I keep asking my wife is there anything she needs at Walmart so I can go for a drive....ha-ha. I'll post some picks as soon as I get a chance.

Got my Race Red on Tuesday. 1badmax, What do you think of putting paired flat black stripes on that color car. My paint shop will paint and clear coat for 1200.

I think it would look good, but I don't know about painting them on. You'd just have to be sure that's what you want, because once they paint them on, you can't go back; well you can, but it'd be costly.

I am going to put the flat black stripes on mine as well, but they'll be the vinyl tape that's put on similar to what is done at the factory. I already ordered a GT500 rear spoiler which should get installed Monday.

OUCH! I may be out of touch. Is that what it costs to have some stripes painted on a car requring no body work?!?!? A little prep, some masking, some paint, some clear, some clean up.... $1200? How many hours can this possibly take?

Don't know how long it will take. But the stripes will go from front lip all the way to the rear bumper. Including the spoiler and that rear deck area around the faux gas cap.

It will probably take just as long as if they didn't go "all the way" as long as they cover the individual part somewhat. I'm thinking this is a $400 job, not a $1200. Is there platinum in the paint?

Again, I may be out of touch. It just seems really high to me.

I actually had put my name on a list to get a phone call when my dealer finally received the 11 GT's. They called me Friday and I came down Saturday to drive. I kept going back and forth on getting the 3.73's. I decided it wasn't worth the wait, so Wednesday I called my salesman and asked if the car was still there; to my suprise it was and now she's all mine!

Stuff like that isn't cheap, body and paint work is very expensive any more.

And you sure don't want a cheapo job for your new Mustang...

On the "Race Red", I think the wheels I have look better than the Brembo's, although I almost ordered one with the Brembo pkg.

They passed laws heavily restricting what can go in paint (environmental hippie stuff) that has more than tripled the cost of paint. My wife put an eight inch scratch in some ladies car that cost four hundred dollars to have fixed, and that was a cheap rate. $1200 is doin pretty good.
