Went out for a drive today as the weather was nice and all that. Great drive, and decided to pick up a salad at Chipotle on my way home. As usual, I carefully scan the parking lot for a nice corner spot far away from anyone else and walk away with a couple backward glances at what a good-looking automobile the new Mustang is. Anyway...

I leave Chipotle with my salad and notice a car that just pulled in right next to me and, even from a distance, I can see that he parked very close. So I walk up (luckily) as he is opening his door to exit his (or his momma's) Hyundai and I verbalize that he best be careful not to touch my car as he is trying to slide out of his car. I watched intently as he jimmied his way out and shuts his door. I say to him, Are you kidding me? You can park anywhere you want but are you ignorant?!?" He looked back at the cars and offered an apology ("My bad..."), and asked if I wanted him to move his car. I replied, "No! Don't touch a thing - just be more mindful when you park next time... and try and stay within the lines." Unfortunately, I did mutter loud enough that he was an a**hole, but since I knew he didn't ding (or worse) my sheetmetal, I was actually pleased I kept my cool. Before he left the scene, I pulled out my Blackberry and uttered, "I gotta get a picture of this - my forum buddies can commiserate with me on this one."

 

Yea that's rather ridiculous...

What a *******. I still can't understand how he even got out of his car with that much room.

 

Met my wife at a restaurant yesterday. I pulled in looking for the much desired end space in hopes of protecting my pant job. A fairly nice Audi A4 had just passed the only two empty spaces (one of them an end space). I was about to take the space when she threw it in reverse and rather deftly backed it into the end space in one fluid motion.

I figured she drives well so I should be safe next to her. I didn't take her passenger into account. I pulled in next to her just in time for her passenger to fling/kick her door open to the full extension upon which it bounced and she kicked it open again while trying to crane her substantial *** out of the car. Her door missed my car by millmeters both times.

I said fairly politely "hey, you should be a bit more careful, you nearly hit my car with the door and that would have been bad for both of us." She just shrugged and waddled towards the restaurant with the glazed look in her eye of a woman on a mission.

People just don't care. To them the car is just an appliance and it doesn't matter how much they bang it up.

 

That is something that pisses me off so much. Whenever I go out in my Mustang, or even my daily driver, I always find a curb to park beside. I put the tires about 2" from the curb so even if the person parks on the line, they can swing over their door as far as they want and still be a couple feet from my car.

One time in my 2008 F150 (only had 12k miles on it when I traded it in in July), a woman opened her door into my truck when I was actually sitting in it waiting for my friend to get done with his doctors appointment. She was in her 50s carrying bags of McDonalds. I had my windows halfway down but they were 5% tint so she couldn't see me. While watching her, I heard it. The worst noise ever. *ding* ! I get out of my truck and go straight to my door and start checking it.

She asks "did I hit it?" I ignore her and make sure it didn't damage the truck. Luckily, it didn't! I said in a very rude voice and told her to watch where she parks next time. She asks again "did I hit it?" I get back in the truck and go back to listening to the radio. She looks through the open part of the window and says "I asked you a question!"

That kind of shocked me, really? you just said that? haha.. Anyways, I reply "And I don't have to answer you" and rolled up the window in her face.

 

Oh that erkks me to no end. I like leavin little notes on windows saying learn how to park !

 

I'll often walk up to 1/4 mile so I can park out by myself in the boonies rather than take a chance on getting a door ding from an idiot that parks too close. I've been able to train my wife to do the same. So far it has worked great, out of the three cars we bought new that we currently own, none have any parking lot dings, and my 20 year old Miata (I've had it for 4+ years) has very few dings, much less than most 3-4 year old cars I see nowadays.

This area is full of them man. Today at Wegmans I parked pretty far out and when i was done some jackass in his f350 decided to park right next to me.

 

I hate some humans, like to kill them all...........

Had some azz just let her door swing free and nailed my wife new 08 Chev TBSS. Funny thing its stupid windy here and you never let door go free..............

BTW, she never said a thing..............revenge is SWEET.

I think a lot of people feel that when you do park way out in the boonies you are just trying to be an arrogant bastard so they feel it necessary to park next to you. Knowing good and well it will **** you off. I am usually a calm guy but i have no problem waiting 30 min till the owner returns to give them a not so calm piece of my mind. It baffles me how disrespectful and rude the majority of people are. Oh and by the way, never park next to a woman even if they do have a nice car. Not trying to be sexist or anything but the majority of them don't really pay attention to how they park and whether or not their door hit yours. This is definitely not the case for all woman but i do see it a lot more with them.

I've learned (the hard way) that you are better off parking 1/8 mile away....because if you park 1/4 mile away there is the person who parks next to you to "teach you a lesson".

 

I agree, sometimes parking far away isn't the best idea either.

Especially if someone lets go of a shopping cart and it acts like a heat-seeking missile.

This reminds me of a situation I had a while back.

I was walking out from picking up some pizza's. As I walk out I see two dirty looking teenagers standing too close to my car. As I get closer I can see one is sitting on my fender/hood as they are talking to the equally awesome looking girl in the car next to mine. I walk over as say to them "hey thats a nice car. Is it yours?" to which one of the guys replies "No". At this point I lose my cool and yell "Then get the #%&* off my hood!". Both of the guys kind of look dumbfounded at each other and the girl in the car decides she needs to get involved by saying "you don't need to act that way" to which I reply "Is it your car? Then it's none of your **** business". By this time the kid got off my car and moved away. I inspected my car and everything looked okay so I got in and left.

It amazes me what little respect people have for other people's property.

 

Sorry Adam - You're entitled to your opinion, but IMO (and this did occur to me) - I call BS. Luckily, I was there when he got out of the car or who knows what damage he would have done (re-review the picture). It was obvious that he either doesn't really know how to drive, doesn't take much pride in his own car... or both. That's why I decided to tell him to leave it as it lays, because I could just see him pulling back out and turning the wheel the wrong way and scraping my bumper/quarter-panel. Indeed...

@ Anyone else - I live in the vicinity of Bristow, Gainesville, Nokesville, VA and I often see a pre-2010 white GT/CS around Linton Hall Road. Is that someone on here? Great looking car.
