every time someone asks about oil changes it's a heated discussion.
OP - read the manual, read these posts, then do what you feel is right.
I do every 5k.

Well that's silly to have a class action law suit. The oil companies are in the business to make money and should tell people what ever they want. It's up for people to do there own research and unless you have lived on another planet for the last 15 to 20 years , everybody knows there is no need for 3k oil changes. If someone didn't know that cars no longer need oil changes at 3k miles then they are a few fries short of a happy meal. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule and if someone was in NASCAR or track racing weekly, hours on end then that would be different. Under normal applications, cars today and for the past 15 years do not need there oil changed at 3k. If someone here feels better about changing there oil at 3k and has nothing better to do with spending money on it, then I say rock out. It's your money, who really cares. I will take that extra money and put it into a mod instead of wasting it on oil changes .

There is some marketing involved actually... Cost of ownership. Ford recently (within the last few years) extended the trans fluid exchange mileage on some of their trucks. Same trans... Same fluid... But a longer fluid exchange interval. This lowers cost of ownership to beat out the GM and Mopar stuff. Sells more trucks. And they figure you will be out of warranty before you have a issue anyway...

Never said that, just grew up doing changes around 3k, I will go maybe 4.5k or 5k depending on how I drive. I understand synthetic oils are different then what our parents/parent's parents used, I just like the piece of mind of changing early than late.

I still say if you change your full synthetic oil in your street driven Mustang with no "severe duty" driving conditions every 3k miles that you are pouring your money down the recycled oil drain. Knock yourself out and change it however frequently you want. And that is the generic "everyone" you, not YOU specifically.

You are right... It is 100% speculation. But I still think I am right!

So... Since I do not have my car yet... And therefore no owners manual to reference. How long time wise does Ford recommend on a oil change interval? Since the likely hood of putting 10K on my car in a year is about zero. Which will probably result in me changing the oil once a year.

Have at it boss. You can change your oil every 1500 miles if that tickles your fancy. It's your time and your money. Enjoy. I'll put my money into aftermarket modifications rather than unnecessary oil changes
