How much will I feel the extra 100hp and torque?
Currently have the 2010 GT pushing 315 horse and will trade it in for the 412 hp 2011 GT next year. Question is how much difference will I feel the extra 100 hp and extra 75# of torque? The 5.0L makes the 412hp @ 6500 rpm. I don't usually visit that high of an rpm even when I am just playing around. In other words what kind of seat of the pants feeling will the extra 100 hp make in day to day "spritied" driving?
What about stoplight to stoplight? Will the extra torque really be felt alot? No one has posted 0 -60 times for the 5.0, the 4.6 did it in around 4.9 - 5.2 depending on the report. I would assume the 5.0 would be not faster than .5 second?

Test drive a Roush 427R 435hp 400tq.
granted it's 23+ horse and 10 more torque. but it peaks at 6450 RPM (so very similar) and the tq at 3750. I haven't read where the peak tq number is on the 5.0 yet?
But generally speaking... you'll get the idea...
Check out the motortrend on it...
Actually that's what I may just bolt onto my 2010. We shall see...

I think some sticky tires will be critical to get it to hook up. Otherwise you won't see the full potential of the extra power.

0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (drag radials), which is about 1.4 seconds quicker than stock.
0-100 mph in 9.9 seconds (drag radials), which is about 4 whole seconds quicker than stock.
Around town, the extra power in my GT is very noticable, and out on the highway it is insanely quicker. The 11's extra 97hp & 65tq over a '10 should be quite entertaining, especially to those that have never owned a 12 second car before.
I'm predicting that the '11 GT with manual trans and 3.73 gears will be good for 12.5's @ 110 mph in the 1/4 mile, just like 200mphcobra said. The automatic should be good for 12.8's @ 108 mph. I'm basing this on calculations that I made assuming a 412hp and a race weight (with driver) of 3,750 lbs (and drag radials, of course).

A lot of the "seat of your pants" feel you notice is the quicker/crisper throttle response that the tune has, not as much the HP/TQ gain.

That, and increased power across the RPM range.
OP, honestly unless you paid cash for your '10 and just have money to burn to trade up to an '11, you are better off slapping a supercharger on your '10 and calling it a day.

Agreed. The torque curve of a blown 4.6 > 5.0 n/a, guaranteed. No N/A motor, Ti VCT or not can touch a blown V8. Of course blowers will come for the 5.0.

We already know that the 5.0 has a higher compression ratio than the outgoing 4.6, but I don't think that it will be too high to be able to be safe with forced induction.

Very good points!
