Hot Wheels 2010 Mustang
Mattel's Hot Wheels designers reinterpret digital data provided by Ford designers to built a virtual model of the car on the computer.

After the digital work is complete, designers shrink the car down to 1/64 size and create a resin prototype, similar to the models generated in the Ford Design Studio.

The Hot Wheels 2010 Ford Mustang is on sale now at retail locations throughout the country.

Very Interesting Post Brad.
Just a couple comments. It looks like they forgot the Hip's and Kickup at the back of the door when modeling this.
It also looks like they are using the same interior as the 05-09's with the Protruding Guages, Open Cupholders and Raised Console Lid.

Looks the same to me? At least that's what I see when I look at the 2010's rear end. I think they got that part of the Toy Just Right. Maybe it's because it's all one color and You're not being thrown off by the "Candy Cane" Tail Lights?
Here We Go Again....
Not sure if you realize this or not, but when they design a new Hotwheels car in such a small scale, they will modify the dimensions instead of remaining true to the original. If you were to blow that Hotwheels car up to a full size version, it would look more like a cartoon than a real car. Certain styling elements wouldn't work as well in such a small scale, so they are basically taken out entirely.
The wheels are even more funny because they would be absolutely HUGE if the car was blown up to actual size. Certainly much larger than the OEM wheels and even bigger than 20" wheels for sure. Just look at the proportions and you can see that they would be very large.

Some Hot Wheels do have side view mirrors. I've been "collecting" (ahem, buying and playing with) them since my son has been old enough to play with Hot Wheels. Some of the ones he or I buy have side view mirrors, but most don't.
Still no luck finding these at local stores, in the past couple of days I've looked at two WalMarts, a Meijer, and a K-Mart store. Not a sign of them. Either they haven't gotten them in yet, or they are getting snapped up as fast as they get them in. Some of the new 2009 series Hotwheels cars are showing up locally, so hopefully the 2010 Mustangs won't be far behind.

Are the "Auto Show Edition" cars not the ones that will appear in stores? There are more than 20 auctions for those on ebay at the moment. If not, will it be the same car, just different packaging?
The ones on ebay so far (auto show editions) are not the same as the ones what will be part of the mainline of cars(to the best of my knowledge). I think they will be differently painted.
