Hood Struts
I'll probably get flamed for this but I wouldn't put hood struts on a car designed for a prop rod. Hoods are specifically designed either for a prop rod or for gas struts, and engineered and designed as such. Most likely, a car with a hood prop isn't designed to be held at those strut points, it could cause a lot of unnatural stress from the weight of the front of the hood.
It's not simply about having a strut strong enough to hold the hood, it's about having a hood that's designed and engineered to be held with a strut.

The '12 has an aluminum hood. I used the Steeda strut kit and love it. So nice to pop the hood and flip it up and walk away. I hated the prop rod. Scratched the rad cover and looks plain ugly at shows.

Looks like there are a few good sets out there. Redlines seem kinda long, but seem to be well liked. All I know is my Roush setup is very nice. Like them very much. Would not want to be without them. Boo to the prop rod...
My hood is up every weekend for fluid checks and washing/detailing. I love not seeing that ugly prop rod just laying there so mine are money well spent.

Granted, it only came on the EX version which is the premium model with V-6 engine.
I had trunk struts on the hatch of an '86 5.0 liter Fox body. The problem with these struts is that after maybe 10 years, you lose hydraulic pressure. Even the ones on my Honda drop the hood if it's windy, so I gotta watch my head.
