Hood Popped

Was out in my 5.0 for a back road cruise, testing my tune, and my hood popped. Well, I'm glad the secondary held, but a little scary.
I Thought it will either close or pop back to the hand latch when you shut it. All or nothing.
Any thoughts on this?

Ya, It makes your heart jump through your chest, turn back and look at ya.

It happened to my 07 once on the highway at about 80mph. I have no clue why, and it has never happened again. But I do know one thing, I check twice every time I close the hood and give it a slight pull up to make sure its latched.

So tell me... how do you get that big crease out of your driver's seat cushion now? The cheek clenching must have made the crease "perma-press".

It happened fast (going fast) so I slowed ASAP as I was thinking WTF.
I was the last to shut it. I had just adjusted the two rubbers to even the hood with the fenders. After this happened, I screwed them down a turn.

You may want to consider installing pins

My car sees too much track time to not have hood pins. Seen too many hoods come up over the years to chance it in my car....

Seeing those tassels laying across your bumper, metal to paint, made me cringe on the inside.

Don't they have quick lock ones without the cables? hood pins are cool but the cables kill it for me.

ya they have them without the lanyards. and the lanyards are usually coated in a gel or plastic wrap so the part touching the bumper isnt metal, and neither is the bumper

The lanyards are coated in plastic, so the metal doesn't hit my paint at all, so you can rest easy now.

Since I took the pics above, I've removed the lanyards.
