Higher flow air filter?

I am holding off on new CAI and tune and was wondering if there is any benefit in a higher flow air filter and if so which would be a good one?

Thanks, Griff

I would be concerned that dust can get into the engine more easily. Here in AZ dust is a major problem. If I can get a CAI sometime and not worry about extra dust getting sucked into the engine that wil be great, but it gets really dusty here and the air filter needs to work very well.

AMSOIL makes a synthetic nanofiber air filter that is second to none as far as filtration/flow. And they make a sock to put over the filter for very dusty condition. The AMSOIL air filter flows as well as k&n but filters as good as paper. Check out the website

I put in the K&N high flow air filter. I noticed a little bit better fuel economy. Like .2mpg on average lol but that could just be from driving different. Although it consistently has happened since then.

I like the Synthamax filters that Airaid has.

Seem to have better filtration than the K&N gauze type and flow well too.

They're also washable and don't need to be oiled.

Not sure what other applications they're available for, but you can get an Airaid CAI with one.

I used a K&N drop in filter until my C&L c.a.i. came in.

K&N says 1 to 3 horsepower gain so you won't feel any extra power but you will hear a "little" more sound at wide open throttle. I bought a K&N drop-in filter for my Son's Honda Si and my Dad's 10 Taurus. They both love the drop-in filters and my Dad told me last week he has noticed a little better gas mileage.

I look at it like this, would you rather try to breath air through a piece of paper or a sock.
