The first thing I did was install the roush axle back and I can proudly report that it was the best decision vie made with my car. The sound is amazing and I def do not have any drone that I can hear...and that's even with the top down. Get em!! You will not regret it!

Thank you to those that posted. You helped me decide on the Roush's. Done deal. I can now move on with my life...looking forward to the beastiness!

Also, should I remove the resonators and replace with straight pipe? Shouldn't be too hard, but I'm thinking that I will be begging for a ticket at that point. Maybe I'll just put on the axle back and see how it sounds, then adjust from there. Thanks again everyone!

Start with the Axle Backs. They are pretty loud by themselves (I am 38 and I dont care to be as loud as I was when I was 20). If you want more sound then have the resonators cut off and replaced with straight pipes. In fact (I just posted this in another thread) I took the Roush off when I put my Heartthrob 3" cat to axle and put on the GT500 mufflers. This sounds perfect to me. I do still have my Roush and might try them with the Heartthrob if time permits. AND, I did not experience any drone with either set up.

Just got my Borla S type installed.

The tone is gorgeous, crisp, and refined. Not nearly as much bass as the Basssani, but you can hear it a lot more (in a good way) from inside the cabin. Virtually no drone (there is a molecule of it at 2,000 RPM but it's so minor and is drowned out by other sounds easily).

Worth the 640 bucks? I don't think any exhaust is worth that much honestly, but this is my car and I want to waste money on it.

I was horrified the S-Type would be obnoxiously loud, but it isn't. It's almost silent cruising at 1500-2200 RPM and when it does get loud, it's a sexy loud, not an "I'M A DOUCHEWAGON!" loud.

I like them a lot. Will keep. My Bassanis are still for sale uber cheap to anyone on the mid Atlantic east coast.

The mechanic who installed them really liked the Borlas more both in tone and volume, but my roommate says the Bassanis are sexier with their ample bass.

Thanks! Thats what I figured. Plus I have an AT so I won't get as much sound out of this than someone with an MT, so it really doesn't make sense to me to spend 800 dollars plus. Am I right? If I can't rev it up good, it seems like a waste (power and weight gains aside).

You want this mainly for sound purposes, right? I'm obviously not a big performance guy if I'm running 3.31's on 87 octane.

I was an idiot because I bought Bassanis then Borlas. I think your best bet to get a good sound and avoid drone for cheap is to get the GT500 mufflers. You could add a ford racing x-pipe for like 180 more for a slightly better sound too.

Yea, I am actually going with the GT500 mufflers when i get my car in June. Trying to get my dealer to install the performance pack when I take delivery, but I'm not sure if they are FRPP authorized so I would be able to get the 3/36,000 warranty.

To rephrase:

The Borlas are awesome! Like I said, not as bassy as the Bassani, but the prettiness of the mid and upper tones sent a tingle down my spine. Sounds like a refined muscle car should! The Bassanis are gorgeous in their own right (make it sound deep and exotic), but the drone...oh the drone.

YES. They are being shipped tomorrow. I don't think I'll have any regrets. If I had MT, then Borla it would be. I will wait to see how I like them before I do anyting else. X-pipe and resonator delete would be my next project, if I think I need it. Hope I don't!!!

As for noise, yes a little loud when you first start but give a quick "blip' on the gas and bring the idle down and they are fine. They are loud(ish) if you gun it at the lower rev's but this dies in the higher RPM's.

I have heard louder pipes on the stang. The dealer loves them and said this is the sound the GT should really sound like, the OEM's muffle what the car should be in his words.
I'm thinking about having my dealer install the Roush axel-backs on my 2012 before I take delivery. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the dealer charge you including installation?
