Help mounting Bobs Oil separator

Before I return my bobs ultimate separator I wanted to know if anyone else had problems mounting it. I have the ultimate kit which mounts to the shock tower. There is a hose in the way which I cannot move enough to get the can mounted. Any help would be appreciated as I would really like to use it.

You should be able to turn the mount a little before tightening it down. It just barely clears when it's not touching (both that hose and the coil cover), maybe 0.5" on each side. Have another pair of hands hold it while you tighten. A cordless impact makes it a cinch!

I will check but I am almost sure there is no way it will mount. They sent me a pic with the hose under the can but there is no way to push it down that much. I think I am just going to abandon ship and go with a jlt. I hate fitment issues.

Post a pic of where you're at now. This is how mine looks. I need to shorten the shorter hose a little, as it has a slight pinch, but it is so slight I might just leave it alone.

Thanks for the pic. Will revisit it again when I get home and am less frustrated.

The drain valve part is exactly centered between the hose and the valve cover on mine.

Finally got it mounted. I had to use the non threaded hole to mount it to with a bolt and locknut.

And before anyone yells at me, yes I did remove the cardboard from the heat shrink hose clamps. Those were only on like that when I mocked up the hose length. They do look very clean vs reg ss clamps.

Here are a couple of pictures of my Bob's can mounted on the strut tower of my 14 GT. I have no clearance issues. I used the supplied bolt in the threaded hole that the ground wire was bolted to.

The arm on that mount is definitely longer than the one I have. Need to check with them. Believe me I am very mechanically inclined. No way it was going in that hole with the arm I have. Originally I ordered the firewall kit and then decided to have them send me the firewall mount for it after the fact. Maybe they sent me the wrong one. Either way it is very secure for now but will check with them in the morning.

OK. Figured it out. You are using the standard kit. I am using the ultimate kit with AN fittings. The fittings are longer so the bracket is shorter. You have to push down the hose so the can sits on top of the hose which I am not willing to do. I feel it puts to much pressure on the hose. Got this regarding the ultimate kit from svtperformance. Was posted by guy from bobs.

To make work on the 5.0 GTs, we had to shorten the brackets as it's so close and the AN fittings are much longer than the standard fittings. Because of this shorter bracket, the can will not fit on Boss cars with the factory strut tower brace (not sure if it will work with other aftermarket braces) so the Boss guys have to use the standard one still, but hope to make a bracket that will work for them in time too!

I wasn't aware that they used a shorter bracket with the ultimate kit. I ran into the same type of problem when I was running my UPR can as their bracket was shorter and also let the can hang down further which let the bottom of the can come into contact with the side of that hose and the coil cover. My current Bob's setup has the perfect clearance. Hopefully they come up with a better solution for your application.

I wish I had done the ultimate kit now lol. That looks so much nicer than my rubber hoses! Glad you didn't give up!

I usually dont ever give up. Was just frustrated that day. Spoke to guy at Bobs motorsports this morning. They will be including a bolt and locknut with the ultimate kit from now on. Steve at Bobs autosports was extremely helpful. I give them an A+ for customer service.

anyone know of any good motorsport places in Michigan where i can pick up a bobs can and sells MGW shifter?

If on vacation have everything shipped to the hotel you are staying at. Just tell them to send it to the hotel att: Your Name/Hotel Guest. The hotel will hold the packages for you.

How would you know about the benefits of an Impact driver??? Get the Milwaukee yet?

Kidding Patrick... looks awesome under your hood! I have a slight pinch in mine too, I probably have to short my hose then? Ugh, I have just removed and installed that darn separator like 4 times now... lol

Hahaha I borrowed one! And yeah I'm just going to leave it alone. I'm thinking I'm going to upgrade to those braided hoses down the line anyways.
