It's been a couple of years but if i remember right, I unbolted the front brackets and used a small hydraulic jack and block of wood to force the midpipe up to pop the connection after loosening the clamp - it beats trying to force it apart on your own. Leave the jack in place until you hang the new muffler and then slowly let it down to get the connection tight.
