HELP! - Exhaust install

Guys, if you did your own axle back swap can you please give me a step by step as to how you got the stock mufflers off of the car?

I have ramps but no lift so I cannot get the mid pipe brackets off.
I have all of the tools needed and am mechanically inclined and have done this on my other mustangs.

I was ready to go yesterday but could not get the muffler to release from the main pipe no matter what I did.
The side hanger was released but couldn't get any breaks to get this thing off.

Do you unbolt the hanger brackets? Some other tips?

Really appreciate it guys.

I unbolted the brackets and swapped the hangers that way.

^^ Thanks to you both.
I did that to my '07 when I swapped the exhaust there too but none of the youtube videos I watched for the 11-14 mentioned anything about having to remove the brackets.
I didn't want to go through the trouble unless that was absolutely necessary.

Going to give it another shot Wednesday morning I think.
Thanks again buds.

Get the front end on ramps/stands and undo the H-pipe/OTA pipe clamps. Slide the OTA pipes out of the clamps and this will give you far more wiggle room to remove the axle-backs. Trust me, I fought trying to the axle-backs out for a couple of hours before throwing in the towel and loosening those clamps. Then it was simple.

I unbolted everything from the H-pipe back. Took me a little over an hour to get the new ones installed.

I dropped the front muffler hangers...super easy...took less than an hour to do the axle backs on our 2014 GT convertible.

Done mine several times now since I can't decide which muffler to keep on the car, lol. I pull the mufflers off the rear hanger then slide the muffler towards the back of the car which exposes the front hanger. Remove the 2 or 3 bolts depending on which side and drop the muffler with the hanger.

you could have the best of both worlds, use a different AB per side

No kidding, I have stock muffs, modified stocks, gt500's and now roush plus I was playing with OR Hpipe. I think putting the stock cats on is worse than taking them off.

I may have done it the hard way but, i jacked the rear of the car up loosened the clamps on the mufflers and lubed up the rubber on the hangers, and pulled them off. If I remember the drivers side kicked my a$$ but it is possible.

I installed the Borla S's and took the hanger brackets off to do the swap.
It was not hard as long as you have the wrenches and a second set of hands.

The drivers side was harder than the pass. side.... undo both rear hanger rubbers (wd40 squirted on it made it slip right off easy) and then have someone grab the tip and push down a little. This gives much better access to the hanger bracket bolts.

Much easier bolting everything back due to the Borla's not being nearly as big as the stockers.
Car sounds like it should have from the factory imho

Thanks again everyone for helping me out with advice.

I lubed the hangers and wrestled with them for an hour. Once I got them free there wasn't a lot of room to slide the mufflers forward. In retrospect it would have been easier to remove the brackets.

I didnt remove the hanger brackets i just went the stubborn route and tackled the job with my socket, ratchet wrench, and some dawn soap. Took me about 30-45 minutes to get both off. No lift or jack but i actually think that helped me a bit since the ground is a pretty strong thing to brace against so that gave me some extra push to get the mufflers off and out

Bought a muffler hanger removal tool on sale for $24.00....worth every penny. Made taking the muffler hanger out of the bracket a breeze!
