I wouldnt worry, if you've got the Escape you can use that for family life, and the huge amount of crap you will carry about with you for the 1st child (trust me, its way less when you get to the 2nd kiddo)

I used to take my little one to nursery school in a lotus elise, rear facing baby seat on front passenger seat (no front airbags) roof off come rain or shine :-)

You will be fine in the mustang, my kids still prefer it to either the minvan or the escape
