Hate/Love the Rear?
#21
I don't "hate" the rear, but I dislike it enough to vote that way.

I like the rear,it reminds me of the SGT and CS rears,i like this new rear better than the '05-09,i feel that is the one weak point of that car for me and i'm excited that the '10 ditches that awful '05-09 spoiler that matched no other part of the car. I'm also glad the new Shelby GT500 will spell out S-H-E-L-B-Y ACROSS THE DECKLID as God intended. The new rear does look alittle awkward from certain angles though, but not enough to ruin the car for me,i give it a solid B+.
For Mustang rear ends,i'm still in love with the '99-04,good god do i love rubbing my hand across that embossed Mustang lettering on the back bumper when i'm washing her,I love, love, love the back of my car. I also love the '94-95 Cobra with the horizontal lights and its goofy early wing.

I think you might be onto something here! I would love to see the '10 interpetation of that setup! The corner at the bottom would be less pronounced. Maybe extend them to the trunk lid for the wide shelby look... I'd like to see that.

The only issue that I have with the rear end is just the taillights, but everything else looks fine to me.
I'm sure we'll see plenty of aftermarket support for them, so I'm not to worried about it.
+1 on the love it I guess.

Sure there's a limit. For me, at least, monetary resources are finite. Bolt a $400 CAI onto your 400hp 5.0L 4V and you'll probably be making ~410-420 horsepower. What would it take to make that kind of power with the current 3V 4.6L? $5,000+ in forced induction (I don't know if the engine is capable of achieving numbers like that naturally-aspirated).

I don't see any Acura in the 2010 design.
If it's a little angle in the tailamps, the additional shape and sculpture to the shapes or the plan view wrap of the lamps around the car ( a trick used by everyone from Audi to Ferrari to the SN95s to reduce the appearance of overhang ) then you must think the front looks like an Aston Volante or the rear of an MKS looks like a Kia Sorento. You will always be able to make some reference to one car or another.
The worst thing Ford could do would be to leave the rear end the same or too close to the 2005-09. You need to see instant visual difference and see that the Mustang does not only rest on its laurels. Otherwise the Mustang would be viewed as old news.....been there, done that.
The critics already think the 2010 looks too similar to the old one- imagine if it was.

I see more reference to the design and shapes of the 1967-68:

Thank You Very Much! I'm Not the Only One Who Sees It. I Know we're gonna hear that same old tired "It's NOT A REAL or TRUE FASTBACK" Crap again , but I see More 67-68 Influence in the 2010 than anything else.
I Can see some Aston Martin in the Front End, but then again I said the same thing about the 05's, but Acura? HELL NO!

Lets not put down Euro and Jap cars though as they have more attractive behinds than the Mustang. Its an insult to the designers of these cars.

hate is a stong word...but after seeing the '10, I ran to the local dealer and brought home a 09 to store away for whenever the 06 wears out. I dont 'love' the 05, but sure like it a lot...actually, a whole lot...Ok I love it
I dont like the '10 exterior at all though, but the interior looks excellent- to each his own, and I hope ford sells a boatload of '10's, but its just aint catchin my eye at all, just dont scream mustang to me.
The biggest disappointment to me by far is the rear lights/chamferred corners, with the 05 anyone from 5-100 years old would recognize it was a mustang from a 1/4 mile away- just dont think thats the case anymore, the arguement as to if that was intentional or not, only the folks at ford could say for sure...

I just don't get the shape of the rear bumper. Too many angles when viewed from above. I agree with the Acura description, the bumper is shaped like a 2004ish what ever Acura calls the car they make off the Accord platform-see I dislike them so much I don't even know what they are called!!
